Hi X, it’s been a while! So, thought of re-introducing myself:
I am Divay and I am a storyteller. I didn't start with a business plan. I started with a fascination for stories and that eventually led to India's Biggest YouTube Channel and Podcast in the "Storytelling" genre.
Back in college, when I was pursuing my BCom (Hons) from Delhi University, what really drove me to college everyday was my theatre society. I did all kinds of plays, performed at National School of Drama and Prithvi Theatre, and developed an unwavering love for storytelling. I knew then, it was my calling. Always has been.
Worked for a movies website at HT for a year, wrote movie reviews and listicles, and then just packed my bags and went to Mumbai to explore the city that never sleeps. And yes, it was like I never slept. Wrote ads for startups, managed community for a media house, made great friends, and cherry on the top - met Shah Rukh Khan, my favourite actor... But that's a story for another day.
While I was writing ads, I wanted to know how brands think, how businesses are built? And that's why I joined MICA, Ahmedabad to pursue an MBA. Opted out of college placements, and again chased a dream of working in content strategy for an OTT. Landed up in JioCinema (Now JioHotstar), as the content guy. From content acquisitions, strategy and curation to "Dhandha at Scale", Reliance taught me a lot. And alongside, I started narrating horror stories on YouTube as a side hustle.
One story became India's favourite storytelling channel...
That channel became a community of 10 Million Loyal Fans...
That community enabled a business...
And over time, that business became TMV — a creative IP powerhouse where we build across storytelling, production, VFX, gaming and events.
Somewhere in the middle of all this, I became many things at once:
a storyteller, a content creator - influencer, a founder, a team-builder, a strategist, a performer, a podcaster and sometimes just the guy trying to make sense of a chaotic creative life.
Today, along with my incredible partner and friend Raman and my super amazing team, I’m building TMV across 5 different directions:
– A services arm working with brands & agencies
– An AI lab experimenting with the future of content
– An influencer + marketing vertical - Dumrooh.
– And the most exciting one for me: original IPs, stories, and worlds
- Even launched India's newest and the coolest pop culture event IP - HorrorCon India (yes, that happened)
But if I’m being honest —
I still feel like I’m just getting started. Right now, I’m obsessed with one question:
"How do we build storytelling IPs from India that can scale globally?"
My inspiration - Walt Disney, hence this pic.
I’m super excited to be more active on X now and share more about my journey and learn more about other amazing humans doing amazing things!
Would love to know more about all of you! Please feel free to introduce yourself in the comments too 👋
