@marcportermagee Great info. I wonder about 3rd generation Nigerians and others from the Black Diaspora. I wonder if by the 3rd generation they are fully "americanized" and have similar results to African Americans.
Think HBCUs aren't academically competitive? Think again. 🧵👇

This Veterans Day, we pay tribute to the generations of Black communities who bravely fought for freedoms abroad – even when those same freedoms were often denied to them at home. From the Tuskegee Airmen to the Six Triple Eight, Black veterans have made vital and often overlooked contributions to this country's history.
Today we honor their courage, resilience, and service that has undoubtedly helped shape the U.S.
Here's why the #VotingRightsAct remains vital to us all--fair and equal representation. Just consider the sacrifices.
October 20, 1967 - a pivotal moment in history. In Meridian, Mississippi, seven out of 18 men were convicted for their roles in the tragic 1964 deaths of civil rights workers registerubg black voters. The mastermind, Edgar Ray Killen, evaded justice until 2005—over 40 years later.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life to securing and protecting voting rights. The King Center honors those who sacrificed so much, and we invite you to recommit to a future where the right to fair representation isn’t diminished. Let's make it happen together!

💙 As Sept ends, we’ll soon see pink ribbons everywhere — NFL gear, yogurt cartons, PSAs — all for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Prostate cancer kills thousands — Black men are nearly twice as likely to die.
Awareness = equity. Screenings save lives.

On this day we celebrate #WomensEqualityDay to mark the day the U.S. Senate adopted the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote.
Black women would wait nearly 50 years later to vote.
Some black women suffrages who paved the Path to the Ballot Box.
A THREAD
Every generation has a lane:
Traditionalists = stability,
Boomers = consistency,
Gen Xers = adaptability,
Millennials =innovation,
Gen Z = urgency! They are "ready to shake the table" they have been invited to.
The question: How do we merge lanes without collisions?
Why do advocates seem to drift???
@AaronMMaybin stated that movements work when everyone knows their role:
🎨 Visionaries
🧠 Strategists
💪🏾 Frontline soldiers
But when we veer out of our lanes, we crash.
Know your role. Stay in your lane.
