At an anti-Israel, anti-Jew protest in DC some days ago, I stood at a table run by socialists, and a young man said, “I like your hoodie.”
I froze.
He was the first in the crowd of about 200,000 to spot the familiar green and yellow of my Israeli Defense Forces hoodie. As a Muslim feminist, I wore it as a symbol of my recognition of the state of Israel and her people and their right to exist and live in peace.
He asked if he could interview me. I wondered if I should. I didn’t know him: @KoshaDillz. Was it a setup? I extended to him trust and voila! This surprising interview.
We found kinship and that is what can happen when we take risks!
In the few days since KoshaDillz posted his video, I have gotten hundreds of messages of gratitude from new Jewish friends, telling me that my witness was a balm to the soul wounded. It started by taking a risk, and with that, friendship was born. Here is to many more collaborations, starting with this one “a Muslim and a Jew meet off Pennsylvania Avenue….” Enjoy Dr. @yudapearl 🫶🏽

Education is about including more voices and empowering students. Limiting the curriculum to YOUR views is about indoctrination and is abuse. #1MillionMarch4Chidren
So tired of #RedRiverCollege not knowing it’s history around diversity. Today’s #Sikh#turban event did not start in 2014. It started in the early 2000s. If one does not know it’s #history one never moves forward. #CBC Manitoba #RRC

@Dr_KThompson You took care of my husband when you were a resident. I don’t remember any of the other doctors. You were kind, respectful, nonjudgmental and caring. The system is now a mess and it must be extremely difficult. I hope you can hang in as we need doctors like you.
When you attend our pre-arrival sessions, you will have a better understanding of what to expect as a newcomer in Canada!
