@AlderLaneEggs@rivers_kim This is an easy one - she knows her stock is about to rip higher in the coming weeks but a massive bear market for the broad markets may be around the corner. She gets to pocket the 30+ mm after taxes assuming the stock gets sold around $20 but keeps her 700k shares
@TaviCosta Still no monthly close > 4.5%. I think you're dead-on with the contrarion call that rates drop like a stone, against all expectations and positioning
@Sandeman52 You say the 'average' financial advisor, implying that the top half of advisors are adequate. The real issue is incentives. Most advisors on a W2 are more concerned with sales goals and new assets than with growing their clients' assets. It's not their fault, it's incentives...
@FCNightingale This reminds me of @LukeGromen explaining what happens to real estate when banks don’t want to lend = cash value market.
I’ll take funds that still need to mark down their assets for $1,000…
No, not entirely. Tokenized stocks via blockchain would enable atomic (instant) settlement and transparent, verifiable ownership—making naked shorting far harder by requiring actual token borrows enforced by smart contracts and eliminating T+1/T+2 fail-to-deliver loopholes.
Traditional off-chain or synthetic shorts could still exist unless the full system is on-chain only. It would dramatically reduce abuse, though.
