Europe calls it a war crime."
"But if missiles hit a hospital in Gaza and 100 people die, it’s Israel's right to defend itself."
Remarkable: KRG PM Masrour Barzani opened Youth Hub in Erbil today, a co-working and services complex built at a cost said to exceeding $10 million, complete with tiered monthly membership fees. The hub sits inside Erbil Avenue, a far larger commercial and lifestyle development valued at well over $100 million. Both are owned by Areen Barzani, the PM's son.
The opening has received extensive coverage from KDP-aligned outlets including Ava and Kurdistan24, framing it as a contribution to Kurdish youth. The same media apparatus that operates within Masrour Barzani's circle is advertising his son's private commercial venture as civic progress, and none of that coverage asks the obvious question: how does a young man with no employment history and no independent income build a $10 million complex inside a $100 million development?
The answer runs through his entire biography. Areen graduated from the American University of Kurdistan, an institution founded and chaired by his father, where he was publicly presented as the top-ranked student in his cohort with a perfect cumulative GPA. A record of that kind, if it reflected genuine and externally competitive academic ability, would ordinarily lead to a highly selective international university. He instead completed a master's degree at City, University of London, a lower-ranking institution with no meaningful admissions barrier for a well-funded applicant. The distance between a perfect GPA at his father's university and a master's at a such an institution is, in effect, the distance between a credential that was his to receive and one that actually had to be earned.
The same pattern applies to his Sandhurst listing, which appears in his public profiles as a marker of military distinction. The placement came through a UK training slot allocated to the Kurdistan Region specifically for Peshmerga ministry personnel. Areen Barzani is not and has never been a Peshmerga. The slot was redirected from its intended recipient to the PM’s son so that a credential could be added to his profile.
Erbil Avenue is also far from an isolated case. It is one of dozens of projects across prime land and lucrative sectors that have been allocated to Areen, a portfolio that has grown steadily as Masrour Barzani uses his position to consolidate his son's standing within the Barzani family and prepare him as a successor.
The through-line across all of this is consistent. The top GPA came from his father's university. The Sandhurst entry came from a slot meant for someone else. The $10 million hub sits inside a development he also owns, opened by his father and covered favourably by his father's media. Each element is presented in public as an individual achievement. Together they describe a biography in which every credential, every platform and every endorsement originates from the same source of power, openly and without apology.

Simple question, happened to THIS kind of journalism?
Let me explain in one word, TRUMP. It really is as simple as that.
My thanks to Mehdi Hasan, a British American broadcaster and journalist who would not bend the knee and in defiance, crested Zeteo News which I proudly support every month, because the truth DOES MATTER.
