@alangrantuk Hear, hear. Only caution I'd give: it's going to require some difficult and painful (even controversial) choices, but greatness has always required such things. Many Americans would be chuffed to have Britain be great again.
@MelK_Ed It's been more accessible historically here, and really it was the US that made baseball what it is to begin with so naturally it's more popular. And one can't discount the American inclination to resist anything seen as too British/European.
I don’t understand this argument. There are virtually no breaks at all. The ball is almost always in play. Golf and baseball are way more objectively boring. The ball is hardly ever in play in football. Your knowledge of a sport is usually what makes it fun to watch.
@TheBillPost Definitely the minority opinion there on soccer; I know I enjoy watching it, sometimes even more than the big 3 sports. I like hockey, but tbh I don't really pay attention unless a team I like is playing for the Stanley Cup or it's Team USA in the Olympics.
@TheBillPost@SteveDeaceShow One of the other lessons Deace noted with the IA race is that high name ID and lots of $$ are basically required against establishment candidates, and I've seen enough of your posts to know those 2 things were factors in Flippo's favor as well.
@AKofiCup Started watching during Matt Smith's run because a bunch of my friends were really into it, and I even stuck through the abysmal Chibnall/Whitaker years. Just like Star Trek and Star Wars, they turned "a legacy IP with socio-political themes" into "all politics, all the time."
