The Territorial Police in the South Kyoga Region, in conjunction with the @MODVA_UPDF, have successfully recovered 105 head of cattle stolen by suspected Karamojong warriors following a swift and coordinated response.
On 13th April 2026 at about 2300 hours, a group of approximately eight armed suspects, reportedly carrying guns, bows, and arrows, raided the kraal of Mwanga Paul, a resident of Kibimba Village, Amujaje Parish, Kamutur Sub-county in Bukedea District. During the attack, the assailants stole 27 head of cattle and assaulted the victim.
The same group proceeded to the kraal of Saale Henry, also in Kibimba Village, where they stole an additional 78 head of cattle, bringing the total number of stolen animals to 105.
Upon receiving the report, the Anti-Stock Theft Unit, supported by @MODVA_UPDF and territorial police personnel from Amujaje, responded promptly and pursued the suspects. Their swift intervention led to a fierce exchange of fire, which forced the raiders to abandon the stolen livestock.
All 105 head of cattle were successfully recovered and have since been handed back to their rightful owners. No fatalities were recorded during the operation.
Police in Mubende District, yesterday intercepted and recovered two stolen cows and arrested one suspect in connection with the crime.
The operation unfolded at around 3:00 a.m. when officers on routine patrol mounted a snap checkpoint at Kisiita Village along the Butawata–Kuminamukaga Road. A white Toyota Noah, registration number UA 379AR, was flagged down, but the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Upon inspection, officers discovered a bull tied up and concealed under a tarpaulin.
With the support of vigilant community members, one suspect, identified as Ayesiga Christopher, a resident of Mandela Ward in Hoima City, was apprehended while attempting to escape.
During interrogation, he revealed that two vehicles had been used in the theft. One was allegedly driven by a suspect only identified as Nduna, while the driver of the Toyota Noah remains at large.
Further follow-up led to the recovery of a second cow at Kabateza Village, where it had been abandoned by another vehicle that evaded interception. Both animals have since been safely transported to Mubende Police Station as investigations continue.

Introducing K-9 units in Bugiri is about enhancing safety and community trust. Dragging in unrelated incidents doesn’t solve problems—it just derails progress. Let’s focus on building solutions, not distractions.👮
