@bookazoid_ Love it (and the production value) That timer trick is insane. Using individual instruction side effects to reconstruct masked ROM is seriously clever!!
"AI writes terrible code."
Does it work?
Yes.
Do the tests pass?
Yes.
Can another AI understand and modify it?
Yes.
Then I have terrible news about how much your definition of terrible code matter. Humans aren't reading this stuff for much longer, many already stopped.
Super shitty video, but an alpha demo of my Nokia DCT-3 emu running 5110 + ROM4 l DSP firmware and receiving a GSM call with audio.
GSM-FR → IQ → EQ/demod → deinterleave/decode → vocoder → PCM.

@bookazoid_ That’s my next adventure. Made a few failed attempts at extracting the masked lower rom6 from a dct3 but failed. If you know of any tricks I’m all ears 😂
5110 so far boots, registers and executes mo/mt calls and SMS.
@bookazoid_ Oh wow! That’s insane!! I can certainly appreciate how crazy that is. Would love to know how you dumped the lower masked rom (if that’s a thing on the later DSP’s).
Performance look amazing considering co-emulation. My non-threaded co-emulated 5110 briefly touches realtime
People keep missing this.
GDP is NOT FIXED
GDP = Joules * GDP/Joule
Increasing our energy supply and using that energy more efficiently makes the world wealthier.
SMART POLITICS, DUMB POLICY
Today’s the day that poor policy has a picnic …
The Coalition is promising a tax cut for a year and the ability to deduct mortgage payments for first homebuyers, while Labor will subsidise first homeowners to be able to buy with just a 5% deposit.
That’s two different dumbs, both released today.
The one-off handing of money to the public to “help with the cost of living” has been massively used by the current government – think electricity rebates. And the opposition is set to do the same with its one off fuel tax cuts and tax rebates.
Except none of those policies – from either side – actually helps.
Inflation is caused by too much money chasing too little stuff. So when politicians give us extra money, that makes the fight against inflation harder and slower than it’d otherwise be.
Yet we’ve conditioned the Australian public to believe in this Magic Pudding stuff (rather than focussing on reforms that can help lift productivity – meaning we are simply reallocating shares of the pie, rather than growing it).
And making it easier for first homebuyers to buy is the go to policy of governments who are avoiding doing the hard yards. The same equation applies: Australian housing suffers from too much money chasing too few homes, so adding to the extra money going in results in ever higher prices.
(Yes, the government is also announcing extra money for homes to be built, but that supply will arrive long after the extra demand they’re adding.)
Ditto the opposition’s plan to allow first-time buyers of newly built homes to be able to deduct mortgage payments from income taxes.
More money chasing the same amount of housing is the most well worn path to failure in Australian policymaking, and both the government and the opposition seem intent on proving that they can double down on that dumbness yet again.
The campaigns of both major parties are a dumpster fire of dumb stuff. Meantime, the world is on fire, and we here in Australia need smart policies way more than we need smart politics …

Dear Greens supporters. Let me explain why Communism doesn't work. Let's say you "Cap grocery prices" for eggs at $6 a carton. Which means a supermarket can't charge $7 or more as it's now against the law. Now imagine you're an egg farmer. You once sold eggs to the supermarket for around $4.41 for a carton of eggs (which they sold for $6 keeping about $1.59 gross profit before allowing for wages, rent, logistics, etc. )
Your farm's rent has gone up, your electricity has gone up massively, fuel costs have gone up, feed costs have gone up, wages have gone up, insurance has gone up and sales have dropped because people aren't spending as much as they used to. That's before allowing for avian flu outbreaks.
Over the last 2 years, general inflation is 12.7% and about a 40% increase in specific production costs. The cost to produce eggs has risen significantly.
Eggs that you sold at $4.41 now need to be sold at $6.96 just to cover costs. This isn't "gouging". It's survival.
But.... The clever Greens have capped prices at (you guessed it) $6. The supermarket would now be expected to sell the eggs at a loss. They in-turn would ask the family owned farm to operate at a loss.
Will the Greens force the supermarkets and egg farmers to work at a loss or be hauled off to the Gulag?
Why would any business do this? It is unsustainable. They would close down. Kill the chickens. Sack the staff who will become dole recipients as the country quietly goes broke.
This is why Communism doesn't work. It never worked.
The Greens want young people to think it does.
'The Albanese government will extend its energy rebates until the end of 2025, providing another $150 in energy bill relief.'
Another round of taxpayer funded CPI suppression, as expected by many of you.

I have said this since Day 1.
The supermarkets simply weren't, and aren't, price gouging.
Allan Fels, Craig Emerson and now the ACCC have found the same thing.
Yes, prices rose. But by less than in comparable countries.
The claims were politically motivated nonsense.
