Nolan Wells Update: Mother of one of the young men pictured on the boat with Nolan Wells, who is a local judge in the area, issues statement about deactivating her social media, why the boat had to leave the island.
These people already have PR firms and attorneys on their behalf.
We may never learn what happened to Nolan. 😔
Just learning about the decade long silent & powerful homage by Lumumba Vea to Patrice Lumumba who Malcolm X called "the greatest Black man who ever walked the African continent"
And his newest pose reminding us all that one of the world's worst humanitarian crises is being largely ignored right now in the Democratic Republic of Congo

NEW: Almost every member of the Tennessee Black Caucus in the State House being PUNISHED and stripped of Committee assignments for speaking out against mass disenfranchisement of Black voters. This is the kind of racism we can expect to see more often in the wake of Callais.
#BREAKING: Legendary #Maddow: “We are now about sixteen months into what has been from day one, a concerted and intense targeting of Black Americans specifically by this president and by this administration…When Trump and his top political donor Elon Musk then started just lopping off huge swaths of the federal government…the largest and most egregious cuts targeted federal agencies that employed a disproportionate number of Black employees. Reporter Erica Green wrote about this for…NYT: ‘…nothing had moved backwards in the federal government for Black Americans this quickly or this far…since Woodrow Wilson came in in 1912 and resegregated the federal workforce…”😳
🇺🇸BREAKING: Louisiana Republicans are cancelling an ongoing election to eliminate Black majority districts.
The election already started.
People have already voted.
Republicans are about to cancel those votes.
Never in American history has an election been cancelled this way.
How is this being treated as normal?
A Republican governor is declaring a state of emergency to cancel an ongoing election for Congress. If you think this is ends with redistricting, you are not paying attention.
Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach.
The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

On March 21, 1981, a 19-year-old Black man named Michael Donald was kidnapped, beaten, and lynched in Mobile, Alabama, by members of the United Klans of America.
The SPLC sued the Klan on behalf of Donald's mother. They won. She was awarded $7 million. The SPLC executed the judgment aggressively, forcing the Klan to exhaust their resources and turn over their national headquarters. They broke the Klan.
That is who the DOJ indicted yesterday.
Vance, a former US Attorney, walks through the charges carefully. Six counts of wire fraud, all occurring on a single day - April 25, 2023. Four counts of false statements to a federally insured bank. One count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.
When Todd Blanche was asked how a group that dismantled racist organizations could be accused of supporting them, he said: "That's what the grand jury found." When pressed further, he explained the theory: the SPLC is a 501(c)(3) and has to disclose what it does with donor money, and because they didn't tell donors "we're going to give a million bucks to the Ku Klux Klan," that's wire fraud.
Vance's legal assessment: the same logic would apply to every law enforcement agency that pays cooperating witnesses inside white supremacist groups. The federal government does this routinely. The FBI did this until Patel severed ties with the SPLC last October.
The indictment charges the organization only. No individuals are named. Vance reads that as a signal about evidentiary weakness - if they had a specific individual who committed a specific criminal act with sufficient evidence to convict, they would charge that person. They did not.
Every active federal district judge in the Middle District of Alabama is a Trump appointee. The case lands there.
The same week the SPLC is indicted for tracking white supremacists, the seditious conspiracy convictions of the people who stormed the Capitol are being vacated. The symmetry is the message.

BREAKING: On Wednesday, April 23rd, former cop Christopher Gillum was arrested before he could carry out a mass shooting at New Orleans Jazz Fest.
Law enforcement stopped him at a Florida hotel with a gun and 200 rounds of ammunition. His own family tipped off authorities after he told them he wanted to kill as many Black people as possible.
This is what we’re up against. A former officer—someone sworn to protect and serve—allegedly planning a massacre targeting our community at a cultural celebration.
He’s now in custody facing terroristic threat charges. But let’s be clear: this hatred doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s cultivated, enabled, and too often protected by the very systems that should root it out.

Ninth Grader Demi Johnson receives National Geographic award for plan to save Mississippi's oyster reef population. The ninth grader has produced 1,100 oysters that will in turn spawn millions of larvae into the ecosystem, a huge ecological impact
The family of Kendrick Johnson filed another lawsuit. It’s reported from the family that the authorities fabricated their reports, and the judge is also accused of joining to cover up this young man’s murder. The story of Kendrick Johnson is very sad; the young man was found at his school murdered, rolled up in a mat. The school had no video footage, and the suspects were never arrested or subpoenaed, although they were suspected of witness tampering. How ironic their father was an FBI agent. The family continues to seek Justice.
