A #French delegation led by Ambassador Thierry Mathou visited the Rangalu Handloom Weaving Centre in Kaliabor on Saturday, November 1 appreciating the efforts of local #womenartisans who have turned traditional weaving into a means of self-reliance and empowerment.

Established in August 2015, the #Rangalu Handloom Weaving Centre was developed under the initiative of the Rangalu Pariparshik Unnayan Samiti (Rangalu Environmental Development Committee) with financial support from the French government, facilitated through the Kaziranga National Park project.

HCM Dr. @himantabiswa addressed the media after attending the #WorldEnvironmentDay programme at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra.

HCM highlighted that nearly 90,000 saplings have been planted across Assam in 2024 in response to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's call for #EkPedMaaKeNaam.

HCM also announced:
✅ Launch of a portal where citizens can upload every stage of their planted sapling’s growth.
✅ Introduction of a real-time AI-based portal to monitor deforestation and green cover using satellite imagery.
✅ Distribution of arms and vehicles to forest guards to enhance their capacity and safety.

HCM further urged citizens to responsibly dispose of household waste and responded to various media queries.
