I agree: A strong European Union is good for the United Kingdom. And a strong United Kingdom is good for the European Union.
Minister EU Relations @NickTorfaen at the celebration of Europe Day with the London diplomatic community and @SDoughtyMP, Minister of State for Europe.
The two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran today is welcomed by the UK and our allies.
The goal now must be a lasting end to the war.
Alongside our international partners, the UK will work to ensure a return to freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Victoria Billing, it was a pleasure meeting you here for lunch for the first time, and I already know it will be great cooperating with you! Have a great start in Copenhagen as 🇬🇧 His Majesty’s Ambassador to Denmark! 🇩🇰
(And a warm welcome back to London, Joëlle!)
PM Frederiksen: “Constructive talk with Secretary of State Marco Rubio together with Jens-Frederik Nielsen, Chairman of Naalakkersuisut, at the Munich Security Conference. Work will continue as agreed in the high-level working group.”
FM @larsloekke: "A productive meeting today with 🇬🇧Foreign Secretary @YvetteCooperMP. In turbulent times, close allies are crucial - Denmark and the UK stand close together. We agree on the need for stronger NATO engagement in the Arctic and closer security cooperation."
The day is ending on a better note than it began. We welcome that POTUS has ruled out to take Greenland by force and paused the trade war. Now, let’s sit down and find out how we can address the American security concerns in the Arctic while respecting the red lines of the KoD.
Arctic security is vital for Britain and NATO.
As threats increase, Britain is stepping up.
Great to join @EspenBarthEide at Camp Viking to see the work of @royalmarines with Norway and sign a new agreement on tackling the Russian Shadow Fleet.
Our position on Greenland is very clear – it is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and its future is a matter for the Greenlanders and the Danes.
We have also made clear that Arctic Security matters for the whole of NATO and allies should all do more together to address the threat from Russia across different parts of the Arctic.
Applying tariffs on allies for pursuing the collective security of NATO allies is completely wrong. We will of course be pursuing this directly with the US administration.
FM @larsloekke: “Thanks for a good and constructive conversation with UK Foreign Secretary @YvetteCooperMP. Once again UK has underlined the strong and steadfast support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark.” 🇩🇰🇬🇧
Great to speak with Danish Foreign Minister @larsloekke yesterday.
As NATO and European allies committed to Arctic security, we continue to strengthen the 🇬🇧🇩🇰 relationship.
Alongside our European allies, the UK made clear again today: Greenland belongs to its people, and its future is a matter for the Greenlanders and Danes.
PM Frederiksen: ”Good meeting with PM Carney today. Reaffirmed close bond between our two countries. Discussed security in the Arctic. Expressed my appreciation for Canada’s strong support to the Kingdom of Denmark in the current situation.”
Just in: Important bipartisan statement from @RepBlakeMoore & @RepStenyHoyer, co-chairs of the Congressional Friends of Denmark Caucus. I couldn’t agree more. https://t.co/qfkyiEQiO3
FM @larsloekke: "Dramatic development in Venezuela, which we are following closely. We need to get back on track toward de-escalation and dialogue. International law must be respected."
Just a friendly reminder about the US and the Kingdom of Denmark: We are close allies and should continue to work together as such. US security is also Greenland’s and Denmark’s security. Greenland is already part of NATO. The Kingdom of Denmark and the United States work together to ensure security in the Arctic. The Kingdom of Denmark has significantly boosted its Arctic security efforts - in 2025 alone, we committed USD 13,7 bn that can be used in the Arctic and North Atlantic. Because we take our joint security seriously.
And yes, we expect full respect for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark.
