@tanvi_madan Who's going to step up and say 'come work here instead'? It's happening already, but we don't need anyone's instructions. The US has pissed off every European country, so we're doing it on our own. Keep disrespecting the blood of our soldiers who died in Iraq or Afghanistan.
@sjc6254@sarobertson_ The biggest misconception is treating Europe like a single country. Europe is a continent (the US isn't). Saying 'in Europe' is just as meaningless as saying 'in Africa' - it makes absolutely no sense. In Poland the people are deeply Christian, right-wing have 50% of the vote.
@Schuldensuehner Everyone knows AI is a bubble, but that's the whole point. As the Polish saying goes: anybody can do things on the cheap, but the more bloated the budget, the more people get paid. It's completely by design. Any moron can build something cheaply. Credit Stanisław Bareja’s Miś
What's the purpose of banning AI when China can release its own? The US has no monopoly any longer. I know it's hard to comprehend. The US still holds a massive lead, which gives them the illusion of a monopoly.
@ashleevance@DarioAmodei And I don't know what you really know about Soviet-era propaganda, but for us, it is not an 'idea.' We experienced this for 50 years of Soviet occupation. So, it is smart to choose such comparisons carefully.
@bendee983 You are absolutely right and wrong at the same time. AI in non-English languages (meaning the majority of languages) sounds like a creepy uncle. English-only speaking people live in a bubble; it's mind-blowing.
@Pianaland@martinvars Exactly. We should treat the tech brain drain as a strategic risk and stop European talent from working at American firms. The time for talk is over; it's time to act.
@EUScienceInnov It’s not only benefits. You are completely missing the harm AI is doing to native European languages other than English; language is identity, so it’s not about innovation or business, but the fact that AI is stealing our languages with so many mistakes.
@Simon__Grimm Higher education in Poland is free of charge. So, in essence, it's paid for from the country's budget, so it's in the realm of possibility that such measures can be put in place.
@RhysSullivan It’s already happening. https://t.co/OlMVnkbXSW It’s mind-blowing wow English speakers are oblivious to what is happening outside the English language bubble."
