Twenty years ago, I wrote the code behind the rotating NVIDIA logo in the Control Panel.
It was my first project at NVIDIA.
Today, NVIDIA is retiring that Control Panel.
Few things are more satisfying as an engineer than seeing your work stand the test of time.
Great point. That's why learning computer science is still valuable, despite what some may argue. AI will reduce the relevance of coding languages, but the underlying computer science concepts remain crucial.
A truism of CS is that you need to understand at least one level of abstraction below where you operate.
- OS devs -> hardware
- systems devs-> OS
- app devs-> systems
Vibe coding is no exception.
@amasad I would make it more specific in saying, you no longer need to learn programming languages and syntax. But I would still recommend learning computer science concepts, as they will help you use LLMs and agents far more effectively.
Fun fact: On Nov 3, 2024, 1:30 AM happened twice.
There are only two hard things in computer science:
1️⃣ Naming things
2️⃣ C̴a̴c̴h̴e̴ ̴i̴n̴v̴a̴l̴i̴d̴a̴t̴i̴o̴n̴ Handling time & time zones
