So Mike Johnson and many republicans are against banning Members of Congress from trading stocks because inflation makes their salary less valuable.
Here’s an idea: if $174k a year isn’t enough for you, then resign and let someone who is willing to work the job do it.
There are plenty of young people who would be willing to give up stock trading for that salary. And they would actually get stuff done.
And if $174k isn’t enough for people to take care of their family, then how the hell is minimum wage?

Elon plans to destroy as much of the government as possible because he recognizes it as the only force capable of limiting his labor abuses, environmental destruction, tax dollar plunder and limitless robber baron domination. The weaker the elected government, the stronger the plutocrats. Trump aides are irritated Elon seems to think he’s co-president but in truth I think he believes he is vastly more powerful than Trump.

Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) lost to Wesley Bell tonight in the second most-expensive House primary in history, thanks largely to over $8 million in spending from the super PAC arm of AIPAC.

As we assess threats to our democracy, we must look beyond unrest on college campuses. It's AIPAC’s suits-and-ties and GOP-funded Super PACs in Washington, not students with dyed hair, that most often undermine our democracy.
Research has shown that nearly 80% of commonly purchased grocery items are supplied by just a handful of companies.
The result?
Corporations have the power to raise prices with impunity because consumers have so few options.
There's only one thing that surprised me in my campaign. Not surprised at people being confused and skeptical about my eligibility. Not surprised by hostility from Democratic Party and normie Democrats. Not surprised by people thinking I have no shot. But I was surprised at how much hostility I got for running as a naturalized citizen.
It hasn't been just skepticism, it's been a combination of "how dare you!!" and "I bet you're not fighting for your rights, you're doing some sort of malicious scam!!" I don't mean online trolls, I mean the media. The gratuitous hostility felt weirdly personal.
It's one thing to say I don't think you should have equal rights, it's another to hate someone for fighting for their rights. I'm sure the media would say this is what the right-wing does, but in my experience, it's mainly been the media that has been the most hostile to me. And every Democratic and left-wing group there is (they think it is offensive to ever challenge Democratic incumbents, so they hate me twice over).
Not one civil rights group supported my effort at achieving equality for 25 million naturalized citizens. Funny how left-wing groups and the media claim they love civil rights, but when I fought for my civil rights, they were my biggest opponents.
Everything doesn’t need to be political. What Clarence Thomas has done - take free trips, gifts, and money - from someone who regularly tries to influence the Supreme Court, is outrageous. Both parties should realize this.
Here’s the short story.
