There are two problems rn for crypto and, specifically, bitcoin bulls:
1) marginal liquidity would rather speculate in prediction markets and equity markets
2) marginal energy to mine BTC is worth 10-20x if reallocated to serving AI tokens
These changes feel structural but I could be wrong…
THE BLOCK: The U.S. and U.K. say they plan to use stablecoins in cross-border finance, in a joint statement as part of the Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets.
"Both governments recognise that well-regulated stablecoins have the potential to promote efficiency and competition in our financial systems, modernise financial market infrastructure, and improve cross-border payments and transactions," they said.
An outlier from the Pa. Leg: Sen. Vince Hughes spent almost $80K (of ur tax dollars) on invite-only lunches while also taking per diems on at least seven days — a violation of Senate policy (gift link):

Scoop: Talk has begun circulating around town that the White House may be considering a possible executive order on open-source AI, sparked by fears about Chinese dominance, nine people familiar told me, @BrendanBordelon, @delizanickel and @meredithllee
Even if you passively inform your agent of your preferences (low cognitive cost), the amount of info needed to prevent your agent from inefficiency due to psychological manipulation may ultimately be worth more to the highest bidder than your streaming and browsing history.
The 'you are the product' model has new competition. But as a wise man once said, "prices don't come for free." The more reasoned your agent's decision-making, the more technological transaction cost.

Craziest thing I've seen in a while:
• Someone buys $4M worth of BONK
• Then posts a DAO proposal asking to transfer $20M in BONK to themselves
• Waits 7 days without anyone noticing
• Then votes "yes" with their own BONK holdings, and the proposal passes
• $20M is transferred to them
And now the Bonk team has suddenly realized they lost $20M.
This wasn't even a hack.
The proposal passed because no $BONK holders checked the governance forum.
Insane to see the current state of DAOs.
What's missing in the @friedberg and @RoKhanna billionaire tax debate is any discussion of the spend side of the equation - there's no reason to believe that more taxes will solve any of our fiscal problems. The argument is circular: more revenue = more spend = more debt = more need for incremental revenue!
Car headlights have gotten absurdly bright – roughly doubling in recent years – and it's dangerous for others on the road.
I encouraged the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to look into setting better maximum brightness standards in their upcoming infrastructure bill.
"If we were to achieve quantum computing in the current global context, I believe that losing access to private keys would be the least of our worries," @jb87ua of @DeSciWorld told Decrypt on the implications of a room-temperature superconductor. https://t.co/o5J2sfiMgR
