Great points considering captions as increasing access for all participants, describing more than sound but image as well, and captions existing beyond traditionally considered modes (such as museums and comics).
Starting our workshop "Radical Captioning: Composing
Access as More than Legal Mandate" Duffy and Ingman ask participants to reflect, "What is a caption?" "Why would anyone caption?" "What is its value?"
We are at the middle point of #DMAC2024! We have a morning introduction to video projects, followed by a workshop with @ceiwertz and Krys Ingman on Radical Captioning, then later followed by a talk with Mike Blancato and @svroundtree on Counterstories and Video Essays.
This week, I am attending @dmacinstitute & was blown away by @thelauratype's fantastic workshop on "AI Prompt Engineering for Professional Writers." Really excited to try some of these ideas in my future teaching.
Lots of differing responses. Many types of notebooks (college ruled, reading journals, non lined, lined), digital platforms and devices (tablets, and one note), and varying and fun sticky notes!
Something new we are trying out this year is a daily question for #DMAC2024 participants. Todays question "What is one of your favorite notetaking tools (tablet, pen, pencil, notebook, sticky notes, etc.)?"
Another exciting day for #DMAC2024! Today's plans include a workshop on "AI Prompt Engineering for
Professional Writers" by @thelauratype, some studio time working with audacity, and then a presentation from @gavyJ "Mapping Privacy Infrastructures"
In a workshop about journaling Jenny Patton asks #DMAC2024 gets participants to think about the necessity of wind for plants growing strong roots. She asks participants to journal, "What's the wind in your life, and how is it making you stronger?"
We are excited for a great start to #DMAC2024 ! Today we have plans to discuss goals for the institute, threshold concepts, and an exciting workshop on journaling with Jenny Patton.
