Popping in here briefly to say: If we're friends here and you've moved to that other place where the sky is blue, let me know. I'm no longer active here and will probably be deleting my account soon. If you haven't moved over there, seriously consider it.
Twitter was once the greatest thing in the world. Oh well. Is this kind of outcome inevitable when a resource is owned by private individuals or governments, instead of communally? Probably. Anyway, I'm gone from here for now. Find me on Mastodon or Bluesky, both thriving.
@EmanuelDerman@octonion Too much to say here, but first thing is to decide on price range. That will narrow things down. Digital is much easier to deal with than film. Most digital cameras will come with a stock zoom lens (which covers a range of focal lengths) that should be good enough for beginners.
My days on this hellsite may be numbered. I'm on Mastodon and Bluesky, so if you are too please follow me there and let's live together in peace and harmony. I'm [email protected] and https://t.co/tQZ2d65x0s. No plans to sign up on Threads.
This week's installment of "It's Complicated" (an hour of prog and prog-adjacent music) comes your way tonight at 7:00 NYC time. Hear it live at https://t.co/3Ej4WxurBH or via the wonderful @WFMU app. (Pictured: After Dinner.)
I was given this glove for my hand injury. It doesn't seem to have helped at all, but I'm going to start wearing it all the time because it allows me to avoid shaking hands with people, which is now unbelievably painful.
Important message to pro-Palestinians and anarchists who refuse to vote for Harris here: Trump will be FAR worse for the Palestinians. If you're waiting for fundamental social change for the better from an elected official you'll be waiting forever. Real change comes from below.
You have 48 hours to overcome your illusions about what a Trump victory would mean for the Palestinians as well as us here in the imperial metropole. Bite the bullet for the non-fascist candidate—as odious as it is. PLEASE listen to this before Tuesday. https://t.co/rTyPKAHsHE
See "Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat" (now at Film Forum in NYC). The editing, design, research, and depiction of Black radicalism—partly through the music of Abbey Lincoln and Max Roach—are the absolute best. If only they didn't glorify Khrushchev as an anti-colonialist. Come on.
The second and final day of the @WFMU Record Fair is today, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan. This is (honestly) the world's greatest record fair. I'll be there from 12:30, at the FMU record table, so say hi if you're there. https://t.co/AguPwIc1uq
Excited to be seeing Tati's "Playtime" on the biiiig screen (BAM) tonight. It's surely one of the most meticulously staged and photographed films ever made, absolutely awe-inspiring.
