Today is the service of songs funeral service for the three brothers who died in the Nigeria House Building in Lagos few days ago.

They were trapped in the fire then the building collapsed on them. They were there 7days and eventually died.

The Nigerian government failed them.
They were young, full of life and ambition but they are dead today.

For 7days they were trapped.
For 7days they expected help.
For 7days they were left to die.
And die, they did, eventually.

We failed them while they were alive.
No prompt fire service as the fire burnt for days. No equipment for rescue after building collapse. Nobody seemed to care.

They spent their Christmas and new year day trapped in a collapsed rubble fighting for their lives, only to lose it in the end.

May God rest their souls.
Another set of lives lost to a country where the government treats the lives of young people as worthless.

This life is funny. It is good to put privilege into context.

Some of you have never entered Danfo before because your parents' driver drive you around, while others have to jump buses with their parents and even lap their younger one so the fare would suffice.

Some of you don't know what it means for school fees to not be paid. You just find yourself going to school whenever school resumes and then vacation to London in summer. Others have to be embarrassed in the presence of their friends and watch their parents continually beg the principal for grace time.

Se of you know where your future is headed even in SS1. Your parents have told you that you're going to Covenant for your first degree, after which you get a Masters at the London School of Economics. Others have to first focus on the cheapest school and catchment area to increase their chances of admission and actually staying in school.

Some of you get up to N300k monthly as allowance while other get N20k and "remember the child of whom you are, remember the home you come from."

Some of you can afford to fail. There is financial might to back you up. If you fail, you try again. You can even try something else, and it would be funded. Others cannot afford to fail. They need to succeed at all cost to break the cycle of poverty. They also have siblings looking up to them because investment in you means taking over your parents' responsibility to help with your siblings' welfare.

Reports of armed DSS officials storming and sealing the office of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda and the alleged militarization of the Assembly complex at Alausa are deeply troubling.

This brazen display of force at our state's legislative chamber represents a dangerous assault on democratic institutions and the principle of separation of powers. The deployment of security forces to intimidate elected representatives and interfere with legislative functions is reminiscent of our dark days under military rule and has no place in a democratic society.

The Lagos State House of Assembly is the people's house—a symbol of our democratic values and aspirations. All well-meaning Lagosians must resist any attempt to undermine their independence through intimidation tactics.

Therefore, I call for the immediate withdrawal of DSS operatives from the Assembly complex and demand a full public explanation of the legal basis for this action.

Without respect for established democratic processes and the independence of the Lagos State House of Assembly, we risk a shameful descent into anarchy.

I have noted the mixed reactions- both positive and negative to my call for the immediate reopening of markets that were not involved in illegal drug trading.

Once again, this situation highlights why we continue to experience economic stagnation, and unproductivity in our nation.

When those who have never built or managed businesses - who do not understand how micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) operate - are in charge, they take actions that cripple legitimate businesses and stifle economic growth.

This is how we have continued to decline - where governance disregards the realities of everyday Nigerians.

The earlier we embrace the fact that small-scale businesses are a critical part of the economy, the better for us as a developing nation.

During my recent visit to Indonesia, I engaged with the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and policymakers. They clearly demonstrated how Indonesia MSMES provides over 90% of the employment.

The Indonesian government provides committed support to ensure these MSME businesses thrive, offering access to reduced funding while ensuring that those who violate the law are duly persecuted and punished.

During my tenure as Governor, Anambra State was the first to seek a partnership with the Bank of Industry to secure special loans for MSMEs. A dedicated committee was set up to ensure that the loans reached those who truly needed them. We also facilitated the establishment of a Bank of Industry branch in Anambra to enhance access to funding.

When many states were banning motorcycle riders, a.k.a okada riders operations, on allegations that they were involved in criminal activities, I refused to follow suit because I understood the economic implications for small businesses. Instead, I intensified efforts to enhance their operations, creating an environment where small businesses could thrive while collaborating with their unions, and security agencies to weed out the bad actors.

Similarly, I ensured that certain categories of small businesses, such as wheelbarrow pushers, were exempted from paying taxes to ease their financial burden.

Today, entire markets are being shut down because of the actions of a few.

You do not cripple an Ogbo Ogwo market and surrounding markets for several days in the name of enforcement.

These are people struggling to survive in an already difficult economic environment, yet instead of providing solutions, the government is shutting down markets indiscriminately. This is not governance; it is economic sabotage.

Small businesses must be protected—not destroyed—if we truly want to build a productive nation.

I respectfully appeal once again that businesses not involved in the sale of fake drugs should not be shut down due to the huge implications of closing businesses that depend on daily profits to survive. A one-month closure will cripple many of them. We have witnessed similar situations in the past, where businesses reopened only to find that goods with short shelf lives had expired, resulting in huge losses.

Additionally, I like to advise that shop owners should be present before any searches are conducted on their premises to ensure transparency and fairness.

A new Nigeria is very POssible. -PO

I have observed that my honest interview yesterday was misquoted by many media outlets, creating a false narrative that misrepresents my position.

Let me set the record straight:

I am not against coalition. In truth, I am for it not for power grab but to position Nigeria for greatness.

I have not, and will never, advocate for any coalition or alliance that does not prioritize the welfare and progress of the ordinary Nigerian.

Any discussion about governance must centre on what it means for the everyday Nigerian, how it will address critical issues such as access to quality healthcare, and education, and pulling people out of poverty.

Too often in our nation’s history, individuals and groups have come together solely for the purpose of taking power for power's sake. Such endeavours, devoid of genuine purpose and vision, have only deepened our challenges, leaving the ordinary Nigerian to bear the brunt of bad governance. This is what I stand firmly against.

Leadership must be about service, not self-interest. It must be about building a nation where opportunities abound for all, where justice and equity are non-negotiable, and where governance works for the people, not against them.

As I have always maintained, the New Nigeria is possible. But it requires us to change the way we think about power. It is not about grabbing it; it is about using it responsibly to transform lives and secure a brighter future for generations to come. -PO

The frequent occurrence of crimes, especially kidnapping, in the country today is worrisome and it's causing a lot of apprehension in the land.

Today, no one is currently spared from the dangerous wind of many kidnappings and killings blowing through many parts of the nation.

Every Nigerian feels the heat of insecurity, which has continued to affect every aspect of our nation, from the agricultural sector, where farmers are often chased out of their farmlands, to the health and educational sectors, where critical workers are often kidnapped or killed.

This is exemplified by the constant kidnapping and, sometimes, killing of our farmers, teachers and lecturers in different schools and universities.

Just recently, the Manager of College of Nursing Sciences, Ihiala, was killed. Yesterday, 2 Reverend Sisters, one a Principal and other a teacher who work in our different schools in Anambra state were again kidnapped.

These are people contributing immensely to our national development through their sacrifices in farms, educational and health facilities in different remote villages.

Nothing justifies these kidnaps, killings, as well as those of many Nigerians who suffer the same fate daily.

This worrisome situation continues to demand urgent attention from us, the leaders.

One wonders if the reported cases of kidnapping and killings are this much, then how many go unreported?

Again, I appeal to the government to employ every security arsenal at its disposal to end this menace and ensure the safe rescue of those in captivity. And to the criminals terrorizing our people, I urge them to have a change of heart and desist from their evil ways.

We must not burn down our only nation with terror and violence. -PO
