I don’t know why we should be making such a huge issue on this! Cha is Chinese for Tea. I assume you want to change it to තේ. Sri Lanka has got most of its words from visitors and as a tourist destination we might as well learn the simple terms and be more hospitable!
We don’t have a problem adopting to alien garb but only worried about a simpler word! They are our life line don’t try to punch with might we don’t have!
Celebrate diversity and tolerance without creating a mountain of hatred!

Is the BBC running out of ideas, or simply choosing a narrative?

For days now, we’ve seen the same images, the same angles, and a tone that raises serious questions about balance. At a time when Gulf countries are bearing the real impact of regional tensions, the focus seems misplaced.

As long-time residents of the UAE, we see a very different reality on the ground — one of safety, stability, and responsible governance. The regulations here are not restrictions, but safeguards that ensure harmony in a truly diverse society.

It is disappointing to see a broadcaster once respected for objectivity drift toward what feels like selective storytelling. The complexities of this region deserve fair, nuanced reporting, not recycled narratives or ideological leanings.

The UAE stands today as one of the safest and most inclusive societies in the world. Perhaps there is something to learn from that balance.

Journalism should inform, not influence.

The president doesn’t look into the visit it’s arranged by the Foreign Ministry and his staff and going with a entourage of 10 including his security detail, protocol officers secretariat staff etc is not extravagant but necessary. He went as head of state and an expense of $50K is normal.

I met with the current President AKD undoubtedly he is a person with good intentions and wants the country to prosper! He needs to tackle the current issues with out blaming the past regimes for all the problems! They were a huge part of the problem as to why Sri Lanka couldn’t progress!
If there are wrong doers bring them before the law! I would be eternally grateful to RW not the UNP or any party for getting our country out of the mess we landed ourselves in! Hopefully history will be kind to him!
