In another turn of events. The Matrix Server will be shutdown and we'll be handing over future management of Dimitri's Garden to a well trusted group of individuals.

the job is not to solve biology. that'd be ridiculous
biology is an open + non-linear thermodynamic system driven by degeneracy. Computing it would need infinite bottom-up quantum simulation.
i see AI x bio as using the biological matter as an analog computer to run the simulation in physical space and time.
its phenotype is merely a non-destructive interface to read its output. functional phenotypes inform you of where the system goes next. that's all.
there is no solving
there is only interfacing
you communicate with life, often productively. you do not control it perfectly. it is inherently chaotic. that's not a thing. solving biology is not a thing
What can a neuron compute?
Real biological neurons are complex, but how capable are they?
Using a new method, we found that a single cortical neuron can classify cats vs dogs, recognize spoken words, and solve 10-bit parity, all tasks thought to require entire networks. (1/15)
@almostlikethat@RomeoStevens76 No timegaps it was all fluid, lasted like 1-2 seconds, it was so quick. Total visual and audio immersion but I still kept my angled perception and velocity. I was looking into the ocean like I was tilting my head while falling
@AbolishPainMvmt@sama Yes. Imagine if OpenAI focused on creating suffering-resistant genomes for all sentience.
I doubt @sama has time to read replies to his tweets. But what if…
finally got to explain my old DMT "hypercomputation" project/proof-of-concept to @webmasterdave today, an attempt to devise a visual stimulus whose 3D interpretation would demonstrate discretised computation on top of the continuous domain visual field
Last day of Anirban being in the QRI retreat. Wishing him safe travels back to Japan.
It was delightful to have him here and have great conversations about geometric and prime invariants :-)
@anirbanbandyo 🙏🌞🌳
(Also in the picture @eliadeweismann )
Andreas Gomez Emilsson and the Qualia Research Institute are making a bold bet: suffering is solvable.
The conversation starts with their insight: A 3mg dose of DMT can abort a cluster headache in under a minute.

Every anomaly Levin documents in this paper is a crack in the purely computational model of consciousness. If consciousness is just neural network activity, then removing half the brain tissue should remove half the function. It doesn't. If consciousness is just electrochemical signaling, then anesthesia that suppresses all measured brain activity should guarantee unconsciousness. It doesn't always. If consciousness is just synaptic computation, then a dying brain with failing synapses shouldn't produce sudden clarity. But it does.
These anomalies don't prove quantum coherence in microtubules. But they do something important ... they demonstrate that the current paradigm is incomplete. Something is missing from the standard model. That creates scientific space for alternative substrates to be investigated seriously ...

Have you encountered a praying mantis entity in an altered state of consciousness (or any state of consciousness)? This anonymous survey seeks to shed light on elements of the encounter experiences and their interpretation and impact.
