Yesterday, on Cycle to Work Day, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure @MinIenW launched a new commercial encouraging people to take the bike more often.
Research shows that 70% of motorists actually want to use the bike more frequently for short journeys.
What’s possible when cities actually value active and sustainable travel?
To avoid a detour, a bridge was built over Utrecht’s Amsterdam-Rijn Canal, incorporating the on-ramp into the landscape of an adjacent school, and extending the path onto its roof.

Working for others isn't a fair process. There are rules but they're only rules when people adhere to them.
Knowing policy and how business works can only make you a better professional. And give you a small measure of protection.

Today I will be reviewing archival videos of war crimes by Russian terrorists in order to use them in my documentary. These are gigabytes of video filmed on surveillance cameras, eyewitnesses’ cell phones, and more. That's hundreds of gigabytes and hours of video... which I'll have to watch now. I already understand what awaits me. Even though I have seen many things in my life, death and pain with my own eyes. There are things that I still cannot react to without tears and pain: the deaths of innocent people, especially children. And they will also be in these videos. But the world must see the truth.. The world must remember who Russian fascists and terrorists are, and never forget about it.
"First thing you'll notice being in the center of Utrecht: it's a city of about 400,000 people, and it's almost perfectly silent because cyclists and pedestrians are the predominant forms of traffic."

Automatic bollards act as gatekeepers of Nijmegen’s low-car center, preventing traffic from filtering through—and damaging—the heart of the city.
Limiting car access improves access for everybody, creating a vibrant and attractive place where people want to spend time and money.
Why is Orban in Mar-a-lago? Because he was democratically elected - and after that, he changed his country's political system so that he could never lose. He altered the media, courts, voting; threatened business; captured the state; did corrupt deals with Russia and China.
Opposition leader of the CDU and potential next German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, delivered a fiery speech yesterday night in Stuttgart. I translated the core message.
Since I have been saying this for years and even carry this message in my signature, I approve this message by 100%.
“One sacrificed himself to save the country, the other one sacrificed the country to save himself.”
Makes me think of the many other leaders who have sacrificed their countries...or would, if they got the chance
A Trump supporter was seated next to an older woman on an airplane and he turned to her and said, “Do you want to talk? Flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.”
The old woman, who had just started to read her book, replied to the total stranger:
“What would you want to talk about?”
“Oh, I don’t know,” said the man. “How about how they stole the election in 2020 and Donald Trump should be president.”
“Okay,” she said. “Those could be interesting topics but let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff – grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, but a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that is?”
The man, visibly surprised by the old woman’s, thinks about it and says, “Hmmm, I have no idea.”
To which the old woman replies, “Do you really feel qualified to discuss politics, when you don’t know shit?”
