@HomerRinco76181 @vegastarr It's not about distance. When it's summer the part of the Earth you live on is tilted toward the sun.
Sunlight hits more directly instead of at a shallow angle. Days are longer, so you get more hours of heating. In the winter it's the opposite. We really need voter tests.

I’m not really sure how they shape of the earth has any bearing on that, but if it means believing the Earth is flat will make everything free so I don’t have bills and taxes to pay, then call me true believer!

Then there’s DSCOVR that takes several pictures each day. We can setup a SDR and receive images from GOES weather satellites as well.
