Emory L Bennett
U. S. Army 1929-1951
Korea
In the early morning hours of June 24 1951, two Chinese battalions launched a human wave attack against his company's defensive position. Bennett left his foxhole and stood exposed to hostile fire in order to use his automatic rifle. Although wounded, he maintained his position to momentarily halt the enemy advance and allow Company B to regroup.
However, the assault resumed and under heavy pressure the company was forced to pull back. Bennett volunteered to stay behind to provide covering fire while the rest of his unit withdrew, during which time he was shot to pieces.
For these selfless and heroic actions, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor six months later on February 1 1952.

🙏🏻 😢 My stepdad, Paul, passed away, peacefully, in hospice care this morning at 80 years old. 💔
Paul was a United States Marine, a truck driver, and also an expert marksman, stationed in Europe while enlisted in the 1960’s. 🇺🇸
Paul loved his country, and especially President Trump, his favorite President of his lifetime.
I was already 32 years old when Paul came into my life, so the word “stepdad” has always felt a little unusual to say. But, over the years he became someone whose advice I listened to, whose help I could count on, and whose presence mattered more than I probably ever said out loud.
He didn’t raise me as a child, but he certainly proved to be a steady and important part of my adult life. I’m grateful for his wisdom, his generosity, the way he has loved my mother for a quarter of a century, and his love for my 5 year old son, Max.
Until we meet again, Pepé, I will pray that eternity with your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is even more spectacular than you could have possibly imagined. 🪽✝️❤️
Hit em’ straight, Pep! ⛳️
