I have family attending my defense, including 4 kiddos aged 3-13. I need to show mouse data. If they happen to be paying attention, how do I explain without traumatizing them and making them hate me for being an animal torturer? Parents in #science, how do you handle this? πππ
Dear scRNAseq peeps (or any sequencing actually).
Did you use R/python/MatLab to analyze your data? yes?
Then please stop certifying this kind of statement on journal articles:
βThe study does not contain original/report codeβ

Excited to share this new study from the Hernando lab, which reveals DNA methylation changes affecting NR2F2-Iso2 expression as key drivers in the development of metastatic melanoma.

Our review on #melanoma#brainmetastasis is published!! An honor to participate in the MRF Brain Metastasis summit last year, and to be part of such a dynamic, relatively young field. https://t.co/tV2x8zOiPt @KleffmanKevin
Today the @WhiteHouse announced that all federally funded research will be made openly available. Importantly, it eliminates the 12-month embargo. This is the result of decades of work by @SPARC_NA, @petersuber, @mbeisen, and so many more. #OpenAccess https://t.co/baSNzXPh4Y
1/ Peer review is in trouble! So much of the knowledge we produce & share rests on the idea that our work goes through a rigorous review by experts. After serving as an editor-in-chief for 5 yrs. & an associate editor for 3 yrs., I'm worried that our system is in trouble:
The Hernando Lab at NYU Langone is hiring a lab manager and a research associate!! We are headed by a phenomenal mentor and we are interested in mechanisms of melanoma metastasis. Check out https://t.co/PUKZS1q9ki to see more on what weβre all about and DM for details!
News: in a jawdropping Zoom meeting, senior admin at NYU's medical school defended the hiring process of a cancer biologist accused of sexual misconduct, showing the extraordinary lengths they're going to to imply the allegations against him aren't valid. https://t.co/UQXKpHUomj
Graduate students, faculty and alumni from New York Universityβs Grossman School of Medicine staged a walkout Wednesday to protest a report that the school may soon hire Dr. David Sabatini, a biologist facing allegations of sexual harassment. https://t.co/gzcNzonwZQ
@nyugrossman students and faculty walkout in protest against the hiring of David Sabatini. Our responsibility is empowerment of women in science and guaranteeing a safe and respectful work environment for all.
