17 years ago, on April 29th 2008 we released Grand Theft Auto IV.
To focus on making the game truly next-gen, we dropped many game features from San Andreas.
Stats (fitness, weight), Multiple cities, Stealth, Underwater swimming, Jet packs, Tanks, Bicycles, Monster trucks, Car modding, Planes…
The missions were designed to suit the story. Previously it had mostly been the other way around.
The ps3 was difficult to work with so the 360 became the lead platform.
R*San Diego produced their Rage engine to replace the discontinued RenderWare engine.
We finally realized a 32 player network game which later evolved into gta-online.
I left R*North 9 months later. With the project and team getting bigger I didn’t enjoy work as much as I used to. I also thought the game would continue to get darker and more serious. gta5 proved me wrong there.
The original release date was October 16th 2007, in time for Christmas. We made the decision to delay the game in July 2007.
Only at that time did it become clear we were going to miss the deadline. I’m guessing decision-day for VI will be similar. Fingers crossed for Take2’s August earnings report.
(Before you ask; I have no inside info)
@RealestBruda@Dachsjaeger you have to use 3rd party software like ds4windows and Dualsensex but even then they're iffy as they require you to setup hidhide and virtual pad drivers. meanwhile steam input is just plug and play if you own forza horizon on Steam
@LaVoix011 @NixxesSoftware they must have some kind of magical 3070 that does not run into extreme vram bottlenecks. i don't understand it either. i wish there was some kind of regulation to prevent blatant lies in spec sheets
@NikTekOfficial @PC_Focus_ jedi survivor launched exclusively with FSR and they added DLSS much later. I just said "well i enjoy the game might as well play". well I did. but when I tried the DLSS patch... I regretted that decision. all those fizzles, artifacts, all of it was gone with DLSS.
@PMS_Jordan and if it requires a gtx 1070 at 1080p low for 30 FPS (per steam specs), it is possible that you will need a 3080ti indeed to barely hit 1440p + higher raster settings (if low and high settings have a perf difference between them that is)
@PMS_Jordan no problem, it could still be fake. but sadly it is true that they are targeting 30 fps for ryzen 3600x (considering consoles have a similar zen 2 cpu and they won't have a performance mode there).
@PMS_Jordan min and med requirements match the minimum and recommended on official steam page. only difference is that recommended on Steam targets 2160i (interlaced 2160p)
@PMS_Jordan I remember an official spec sheet labeling a rtx card as a gtx card. I wouldn't rule it out. also there are no two same requirements: one targets low settings + 1080p 30 fps, the other medium settings + 1080p 30 fps
min CPU spec matches steam requirements
@AdamAshworth2 @valerie_dingle @Dachsjaeger there's also the "you're out of ram and no amount of settings will help you" stutter
https://t.co/Dnq08kjw3j
i've even accepted playing at 720p lowest settings (below series s) to make the game smooth on 16 gb ram but it didn't help. ram is cheap, but is this even justified?
@srhtoninsyndrom @Dachsjaeger maybe they like the attention they're getting. people still buy games after all. hogwarts legacy had massive success on PC despite being one of the most stuttery UE4 games ever
@UT_Alx @SmokinSexyStyIe @3NicsInACoat@_LarZen_@Dachsjaeger some extra comparisons. if you can see a massive difference like me, you will have a similar image quality improvement with this trick

https://t.co/YoiXKhIhMB
https://t.co/Rzw8mqyDpU
@UT_Alx @SmokinSexyStyIe @3NicsInACoat@_LarZen_@Dachsjaeger you usually have to change your desktop to the DSR/DLDSR resolution. that's the main downside but you will appreciate the image quality boost you will get
@SmokinSexyStyIe @UT_Alx @3NicsInACoat@_LarZen_@Dachsjaeger which is funny how 4K people mock 1080p people where in reality if you're gaming at 4K with any temporal solution, the image clarity you get is simply what 1080p looked like before the TAA. I'm specifically talking about clarity of the image. 4K will still win in subpixel details
@SmokinSexyStyIe @UT_Alx @3NicsInACoat@_LarZen_@Dachsjaeger 4k with taa/dlaa is only viable because it looks like what actual 1080p should look like. and 1080p became unusable because it looks like what 540p should look like. and what actual 1080p should look like still gets a pass considering how many people are fine with TAA at 4K
