Hubiera sido un feliz día; su cumpleaños.
Pero ahora me quedo pensando sobre todos los momentos que perdí desde aquel día. Si no me había ido, quizás sentiria mejor...?

Are you a perpetrator of relationship exploitation?
Twice this week, i have had conversations that relate to relationship exploitation that got me wondering if people are aware of it.
Organisations and people are always on the look out for people of value to join their circle. You could be a new employee, a new friendship, a potential business partner; you are susceptible to exploitation. For every relationship, it is not free. It doesn't just "balance out" - you have to pay for the relationship. What price are you paying for your relationships?
I have always been extremely cautious of the people in my inner circle. As a result of my age, the rooms I walk in and skills i have developed, I tend to attract a lot of new relationships. As a result, I am easily exploitable but not easily manipulated.
I discovered I am also highly sensitive to "being used" or better professionally put, "exploited." The moment I sense a sign or symptom of it, I slowly and quietly step back from that organisation, or individual despite their potential value add. That may not always be a good thing, but at this stage, it allows me to be remain peaceful and not resentful or regretful.
I also started checking myself on whether I, too, could be a perpertrator.
- Do I give as much as I receive in this relationship? Am I mindful of balancing what I take and what I contribute emotionally, financially, or otherwise?
- Am I considerate of the other person's boundaries and limits?
- Am I contributing fairly to the relationship's dynamics? This includes emotional support, time, effort, and resources.
- Is there a mutual agreement to the "fringe benefits" in your relationships?
What privileges are you abusing, hoping the other person doesn't realise it or thinking it's something casual. Pay the price.
Audit your relationships. Discuss your T's & C's and be a perpetrator of mutually beneficial relationships. Pay the price for a worthwhile relationship.
