@Debenhams just received your email about gifts for Mother’s Day, for the “homemaker” or “beauty obsessed”. Just wondered whether you had anything for the “busy working mum”? Or anything slightly less 1970s stereotype mum?
Lovely weekend and another long hilly race! Slowly getting quicker and better at pacing myself. Loving the views and chatting with other runners.
Great to have 4 hours to myself! Maybe a bit extreme to get some me time!
@DacreJane@thetimes@RoshanaMN@RCSnews@RCPhysicians I had these exact same feelings. I just can’t shake the feeling of sadness about both and some of the responses (or lack there of). Disappointed by those turning a blind eye and not standing up to be counted when it mattered… We need tangible change!
@BBCWomansHour@DacreJane@BJSurgery@nizbuzz@BBCNuala A quick straw poll of my 24 most local acute trusts; 23 had male medical directors from their websites. This is the data showing power imbalance & leads to blind spots!
Change needs female representation at top levels of organisational leadership with active removal of barriers.

Agree, but a quick straw poll of my 24 most local acute trusts; 23 had male medical directors from their websites.

Curiosity as to why this imbalance exists in the data is important

“Sexual misconduct occurs frequently and appears to go unchecked in the surgical environment owing to a combination of a deeply hierarchical structure and a gender and power imbalance”

@TessaRDavis@ASTC108@DFTBubbles I think this is great, although many of the absorbency quoted rates are tested with water which has very different viscosity…
@rosieICM @ScrubSurvivors I am pretty sure that the gender norms will mean that woman are judged more harshly in the “kindness” stakes. The whole bossy vs assertive in another form.
It should leave us thinking about us.
>The majority of people the NHS cares for are women.
>The majority of carers are women.
>Three quarters of the workforce, are women.
Women are substantially underrepresented (37%) in senior positions across the NHS. https://t.co/Fww4VDg2yW
"It is literally impossible to be a woman.
You are very beautiful and very smart... and it breaks my soul that you think you're not good enough, like we're always supposed to be extraordinary, but somehow we're always doing it wrong.
We have to be skinny, but not too much and you must not say you want to be skinny. You must say you want a healthy weight, but also… YES you have to be skinny.
You must have money, but you can’t ask for money because that would be rude.
You gotta be a boss, but you can't be tough. You must lead, but you cannot crush other people’s ideas.
You’re supposed to love being a mom, but you don’t talk about your kids all the time.
You have to be a professional, but also always take care of everyone else.
You are responsible for men’s misbehavior, WHICH IS CRAZY, but if you notice that, you’re accused of being a whine.
You're expected to keep yourself pretty for men, but not so pretty you 'try them too much' or threaten other women… because you're supposed to be part of the sorority.
You must always stand out and always be very grateful… but never forget the system is fixed, so find how to acknowledge it but remember to be grateful.
You must never grow old, never be rude, never show off, never be selfish, never stumble, never fail or show fear and, of course, you must never be sassy.
It's very hard, it's too contradictory and nobody gives you a medal or says thank you. And it turns out, in fact, that not only are you doing everything WRONG, but also, everything that happens is YOUR FAULT.
I'm tired of seeing myself and every woman doing the impossible for others to love us."

Celebrating our first 17th wedding anniversary, traditional gift is furniture… This is my gift to display my last years medals, although the real gift was the 5am starts and 2am finishes to get me too and from them! @maydrakin
What a day! Hard physically and mentally. But 45 miles 7000ft ascent in 12 hours 12 mins. Really was tough & sheer determination kept m going. So proud of 12th woman (out of 39) and 32nd overall!
