Not a shortage of ATs but rather a shortage of ATs willing to work in athletics when the pay hasn't increased in years, working round the clock, high stress environments, and being understaffed.
No one wants to work in college athletics anymore. The low pay, no work life balance, disrespect from coaches, athletes, and administration. Ask your ATs how they are doing today. Because I guarantee you, they are going through it.
@drsgaven Years ago when I was applying for GA positions DePaul University had a physical therapist that would come in and do most of the post-surgical rehabs. I believe they came in a couple times of week for several hours for a couple of appointments.
@IndustrialATS Don't want to take someone's picture without permission. Overhead climbing students to my right doing morning climbs before heading to the yard to practice installing services.
@SamG_ATC@SamG_ATC I had a similar feeling yesterday. I was biking with a group of people and one person crashed (I didn't have supplies) but I directed two cyclists to get supplies and was able to stop the bleeding so we could walk to where I directed her husband to pick her up.
I challenge every coach, every teacher, every school administrator. If you're involved in the lives of others, LEARN CPR. Practice CPR. Conduct a drill and figure out how to improve. And then do it Again. And Again.
School starts soon. No better time. #SaferSidelines

A heartbreaking story, but glad to see her teammates creating a legacy for her. If you or anyone you think are struggling please please use any and all resources to get the help you deserve.

@stephkuzy I'm out of athletics but working with Utility workers we have made adjustments in work. Altering work plans, adding in more breaks, and even changing what work we do.
Hey SSATs stop saying you are “just” a high school AT. You guys are rockstars every single day. You are the backbone of Athletic Depts and strive to provide the best care for all sorts of athletes. You are prepared for anything and everything. Keep being awesome & kicking butt!
