Never heard of Matt Rife before like a week ago, but I googled him and found a quote where he said his big inspirations were Ch*ppelle and G*rvais, so I cannot say I'm surprised?

I also think the quest for hard answers was a folly: LOST was better when the questions like "what is the smoke monster" and "why am island like this" were left up in the air. The show was always allegorical, character-driven. The pivot in Season 6 (and less so Season 5) to LORE
