Early diagnosis and timely treatment can make a significant difference in quality of life. If you or someone you know experiences these symptoms, please consult a neurologist/ movement disorder specialist.
Parkinson's disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disease in the world- and its prevalence is rising across India. Yet awareness remains low and many go undiagnosed for years.
Know the early signs: Tremor at rest · Slowness of movement · Muscle stiffness
Today, on World Parkinson's Disease Day, MDSI-NPN stands with every person living with Parkinson's disease, their families and the caregivers who walk this journey alongside them.
NIMHANS commemorated the 77th Republic Day with the hoisting of the National Flag in honour of the Constitution, followed by cultural performances reflecting the values of unity, integrity, and democratic spirit. Wishing everyone a proud Republic Day.

It is immensely rewarding to see hard work and perseverance recognized. I am very proud of Dr Deepak Chadha, who I supervised during his thesis work at NIMHANS. His dedication and enterprise earned him the Best Paper Award in the prestigious award paper category at ECON 2025 – Chennai, where some of the best epilepsy research from across India was showcased.
This project, exploring TMS–EEG findings in epilepsy, is both challenging and novel. Dr Shubam Gupta laid the groundwork with solid foundational work, which Dr Deepak pursued further with remarkable passion and rigor. I feel fortunate to have guided this effort, and it is gratifying to see our work acknowledged on such a platform.
