Dancehall superstar Mavado has earned his first BRIT certification ever in UK with “When you feel lonely”, after the single has been certified Silver.

The track, produced by Daseca and released in 2010, has surpassed 200,000 units in UK, with the award being issued on October 9.

This milestone comes after the Gully Gad has made his debut at the O2 Arena in London, during the sold out show with Vybz Kartel in September.

With more than 45 million streams on Spotify and almost 30 million views on Youtube, “When you feel lonely” is one of the most popular classics by Mavado, that definitely helped him to cement himself as one of the front leaders of the Dancehall genres World wide.

During an interview with TVJ News, Skatta Burrel has claimed that no artist, dead or alive, has had the same influence as Vybz Kartel in the last decade, and that he believes that the Worl’boss story will in the end become bigger than Bob Marley’s.

Anthony Miller immediately replied to the controversial claim, saying that Bob Marley has Billboard and international charts locked many years since his death, showing that he’s the greatest Reggae artist ever.

However Skatta Burrell responded that Vybz Karel is an independent artist that doesn’t have the machinery behind to get to those levels yet, but that also Bob Marley cemented himself as a legend after his death, also due to his family making a great job at preserving his legacy.

Dancehall superstar Popcaan is the only Jamaican artist who had 3 top 2 Billboard Reggae Albums in the last decade, between 2016 and 2026: “Forever”, “Vanquish” and “Fixtape”.

The artist who came closer to this achievement was Alkaline, who debuted at #1 with “New Level Unlocked”, at #2 with “Top Prize”, before “NPT” entered the chart at #10.
Masicka also had the chance to reach Popcaan’s record with “Forever Reign”, after “438” and “GOK” both debuted at #2. However, the project has debuted at #4 on the chart.

This unique achievement really puts Popcaan in a category of his own.
