The contact tracing study performed by @Taiwan_CDC and @MGHNTU showed a high risk of transmission of #COVID19 before and near symptom onset. The documented infectiousness data could facilitate more focused policy development https://t.co/CM7KVEnP8c

Look at the shape of these curves.
New York and Madrid had similar epidemics until they spectacularly diverged.
In March, both cities were caught by surprise and shut down because of #COVID19.
In September, the situation is under control in NY and alarming in Madrid.
Why?
Taiwan has been a model of transparency and cooperation in global health during the COVID-19 pandemic and long before it. This trip represents an opportunity to strengthen our economic and public health cooperation with Taiwan.
I'm often asked, why is @CDCgov so ineffective in #COVID19? Apart from gutting funding, staff looking over their shoulders, 2d-guessed Now @WhiteHouse Rejects CDC Reopening Guidelines. I've worked closely w/ CDC for 30 years. It's 2d to none. I've never seen staff so beleaguered
Sad to see my 20-year colleague and friend @neil_ferguson slammed in the press. Say what you will about foibles (a darn sight smaller than those of many with greater power). People of UK will suffer from losing direct access to expertise of world-class epidemiologist.
Tonight #DeborahBirx stated that models anticipating large-scale transmission of COVID-19 do not match reality on the ground. Our modeling (done by @StephenKissler based on work with @ctedijanto and @yhgrad and me) is one of the models she is talking about.
@declanwalsh She spent about one week in another country, and another week in Egypt. It was the Nile cruiseship tour that took 3-4 days I think. Egypt gov said she was index case but it doesn’t mean it was her who infected the following patients.
Actually, H2H transmission has been seen in 4 countries, including #Taiwan. Keep neglecting #Taiwan will only make @WHO blinded and deliver wrong messages to the whole world.
No doubt @WHO could not decide PHEIC for #2019nCoV and #Wuhanpnemonia week.
.@WHO is working closely with all countries to control the new #coronavirus outbreak. Person-to-person transmission has been seen in at least 3 countries outside #China – Japan 🇯🇵 , Vietnam 🇻🇳 & Germany 🇩🇪 - and the cooperation and info-sharing has been very good.
#Taiwan has a totally different public health system from China and also really took different response for #WuhanCoronovirus. The increase of 8 in Taiwan has different meaning. Agreegating the number will make people ignore the alarms.
@WHO should stop aggregating the case no. of #Taiwan with China for #2019nCoV, which would deliver a totally wrong message that the situation in #Taiwan not severe when Taiwan’s 8 is added to China’s enormous 6000; 8 imported in Taiwan has more important meaning than 8 in China.
Exit screening is advised for areas with ongoing transmission of the new #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) currently in #China.
