Relatedly - as I've had cause to say before, if you "don't know" what your sex is because you haven't seen your own chromosomes, how do you know you have a brain? (relevant question in several senses at this point).
Lots of the expert women introduce themselves as “not an expert”. Don’t think any of the expert men have done the same. I’m learning lots from all the experts! #rcpeStAs24
The reason the assisted dying bill will unfortunately pass: on one side there are emotive personal stories, mainlining straight into the #bekind brain; and on the other there are cold hypotheticals about possible victims, very likely to come true but with no clout at the moment
NEW: The governing body of the doctors’ union - the BMA - will vote tomorrow on a motion to ‘disavow’ the Cass Review into the care provided to gender-questioning children and young people. Exclusive by me for the @NewStatesman https://t.co/aybiL7pK0O
“Oh this terrible toxic culture war”, in which women talk about protecting their rights and doctors defend giving children untested medicines and misogynists violate women. Why can’t the women just be kind?!”
@griptmedia There is a difference between sexed language and gendered language. Gendered language references sex when sex is not relevant - 'manpower' is an example. Sexed language makes sex visible when it is relevant- for example 'pregnant women'. Sexed language works against sexism.
I’m looking forward to reading the NHS workforce plan, particularly who is going to train all the new staff? Existing students and trainees lament the lack of training. Unless we retain the trainers, and protect time for training, we can’t teach the trainees.
Man: no definition needed.
Non-man (formerly known as woman):
a being definable only by reference to the male. An absence, a vacuum where there's no man-ness.
Gender stereotypes affect men too. Diversity should mean diversity of personality. That’s different from the sex-based challenges only women face - breast feeding, pregnancy, motherhood, menopause. It’s complex! #wil2023
This is how you REALLY examine your breasts.
Let me show you -
What to look for
Where to feel
How to feel
What a cancer might feel like
I NEVER checked mine - I didn’t think I would get #breastcancer. I was wrong.
Please share this with anyone who needs to learn
so what do you want me to stop doing instead? how many more GPs do you want to burn out because of more pressure being added to system that is already not coping? why do you think you have the right to override NHS GP guidance? /
I was in work for most of Xmas. There were consultants everywhere.
I made innumerable decisions, which could not happen.
Home help not sorted
Long term care not accepting
Limited physio/ OT/ GP/ diagnostics access.
Senior decision makers with no support is not the answer.
The journalist @HadleyFreeman has recently resigned from The Guardian. She joins @emmabarnett to talk about her claims of being “censored” from writing about gender identity, trans issues and antisemitism.

@doctorrah@SairaSundar Hi R-A. Just getting head around this after mat leave. I think ES is meant to pick PSG. Trainee picks TAB. PSG is about clinical performance. TAB is professional behaviour. Hope that helps!
"This is an example of the way de-sexing language can lead to an inaccurate picture. There's no “parenthood pay gap”. Social scientists have shown motherhood plays a substantial role in pay deficit that women suffer compared with men"
