Oddly enough, this rule is controversial.
If you read the rule, all it does make a degree that doesn't earn more than a HS grad disqualified from a federal student loan.
Anyone can pursue any degree they want, just not with taxpayer $$. Seems reasonable.
Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. https://t.co/6tV30STfyc
I needed an obscure, nonacademic question to break a review tie today. So I asked what band did Megadeth founder Dave Mustaine formerly play guitar for... had a freshman nail it. Metallica.
Sometimes they impress you.
@0Beanie05923291@hillsdaleonline@Hillsdale I love the Hillsdale material. One summer we watched the lectures on the Federalist Papers before Independence Day.
Also watched the Chemisty series when I was studying for the Chem certification test.
@MrDanielBuck Some of the IEPs are ridiculous.
One of the worst aspects of having a really disruptive student is that a few others see the bar of crazy raised & they try to up their stupidity to match it.
@C_Hendrick I don't know about these surveyed feelings, but my classroom runs way better without phones.
It's a real positive for the environment, but I don't expect to see jumps in things like test scores.
@eduwithtina I've been trying a system that rewards students for things like attendance or taking notes with speedster points that don't directly impact their grade. It's a little hokey & gamefied, but some of those things shouldn't go toward you letter grade.
@Mr_S_Ont I watched a game design video where the Civ devs talked about fudging the code so that if a unit has a 66% chance of winning a battle it cannot lose 3 times in a row - b/c players don't understand probability & blame the game.
They can ask AI but that doesn't mean understanding
I send an email to my students every week discussing what we learned, what we will be learning, the next weeks schedule. I copy it to the top 2 guardian contacts from the student management system.
I try to pull the parents in as much as possible
@SoLInTheWild I set me room up so I can walk through it to use proximity to help manage behavior.
The slow scan is a nice addition if I have to be at my podium for so.e reason - like I file a report or check student management to resolve an attendance issue. Occasionally look up & just watch
@HelpATeacher Pretty sure Okla. pays student teachers a small amount now. I haven't followed the details because it will never benefit me.
It was a small stipend last I heard.
@0Beanie05923291 Not just sports. Many of our band & ag kids put in a lot of work for their extracurricular activity while neglecting the classroom.
We should strive to do all things woth excellence.
@eduleadership My daughter took enough concurrent in HS to start college as a Soph. It has been a big financial benefit to us.
Her regular, on-campus courses are much more demanding than concurrent.
We hardly see our HS Srs & it does negatively affect the school.
Multiple things true at once
