As usual, a great post that tells the true history and meaning of Juneteenth and hits on dozens more topics. But there is one thing that you said clearly that I think bears much more discussion. You said Juneteenth "gets positioned as competing with, or correcting July 4" and also "A holiday that should unify around a hard-won national victory instead gets used to separate. Funny how that often happens with this particular coalition". I believe those are critical points and, for the Democrats division is not a by-product, but the goal.

The left and Democrats and their "identity politics" continually divide us by race and by different identities, groups, and "tribes" so that they can pander to all of them as groups of victims of evil white supremacists (aka Republicans). That also why they call Trump and Republicans Nazi's, Fascists, etc., even though they know it is completely untrue. Our own government, duped by the marxist and race baiting Democrats, continually make new holidays and "Pride" months to divide us in ways that aren't done in any other country in the world.  Did you know that the actual name in the proclamation that created "Juneteenth" is called "National Independence Day" and that it was signed into law in 2021 by the race baiting President Joe Biden. The same President that said that white supremacy was an existential threat to America!  So for over 200 years blacks and whites celebrated the same Independence Day for America, but now there is one for whites and one for blacks?  Just like now we have 2 National Anthems?  Why is that? It is the ultimate way to divide us instead of uniting us and should be an insult to every American. 
Granted, there is some  historical significance to June 19, 1865, but didn't we already have an entire month dedicated to Black History that was inaugurated in 1967?  They garner votes and support by dividing us. They even have a fancy academic name for it; it is called "Intersectionality".  CRT and Intersectionality are two academic inventions with the same marxist anti-white bullshit.  CRT says that all whites are inherently racist and allows blacks to never accept responsibility and live as forever "victims" of that "systemic racism".  Intersectionality divides the world into two groups; the "Oppressed" and the "Oppressors".  The Oppressed are any minority group (blacks, LatinX, women, the rainbow coalition, muslims and even "Palestinians".  The Oppressors are (can you guess) Caucasians and Jews; ironically the two groups most responsible for advancing western civilization around the world.
Want more proof?  Why do they paint rainbow colors on public crosswalks and put "Black Lives Matter" in our football stadium end zones? Major League Baseball players are required to wear "Pride" hats but will be fined or ejected if they put a Bible verse on their hats.  You can't make that make sense if we really have freedom of religion and freedom of speech.  Now we are told you shouldn't celebrate Thanksgiving because the pilgrims were racist colonizers, and they are tearing down statues of Christopher Columbus.  And you can't say "Merry Christmas", only "Happy Holidays" because you might offend some muslim. And aside from their own National Anthem and  Independence day, blacks now have their own Christmas because some marxist black activist  invented "Kwanzaa". 
And here's the final insult.  Did you know that there are actually 14 "Pride" and heritage months; more than there are months of the year?  Go figure. Of course there is LGBTQ plus whatever "Pride" month. And Black History month, and National Women's History month, and Irish American heritage month, and National Arab American Heritage month, and Asia Pacific American Heritage month, and Jewish American Heritage Month, and Caribbean American Heritage month, and Diversity Awareness month and Hispanic Heritage month and Disability Employment Awareness month, and Filipino American History month and Polish American Heritage month and American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage month. It's so ridiculous that now some months have to "double up" on who we are supposed to honor. Ask yourself the honest question of why is it that the Democrats are ALWAYS dividing us instead celebrating the fact that we are all Americans, blessed to live in an imperfect but still the greatest country in the world. 
When I was growing up we celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, the 4th of July, Veterans Day, and especially Memorial Day; to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for all of us. And they didn't die for their race or ethnicity; they died for their country and for the freedoms we all enjoy. That should be enough.
