This Sherman spent the end of the war sunk in a Luxembourg dung pit. Wiltz, December 1944. Lt. Col. Ripple’s command tank of the 707th Tank Battalion bogged down at Erpeldange during the Battle of the Bulge. The crew abandoned it and were captured minutes later. Fifty years on, Ripple returned to Wiltz and recognised the tank at the town entrance as his own. Restored in 2016, it stands there today, a stop on our Battle of the Bulge tours.

He was the 'Man with the Iron Heart, and was someone who was responsible for a huge amount of suffering. Reinhard Heydrich was one of the most ruthless Nazis and many believe that Hitler even feared him. But he was taken out by Czech agents in 1942, and he succumbed to his injuries and was given a huge state funeral.
Heydrich was buried inside the Invalidenfriedhof Cemetery in Berlin, and he was to begin with buried in a huge grave. Many monuments including a bust of his head marked his burial, and even soldiers guarded his grave. In 2019, the grave of Reinhard Heydrich hit the news when it was disturbed and someone tried to break into it. It is believed that the potential grave robber might have been trying to steal his dagger/sword or other medals he was buried with. Authorities confirmed that the body was not taken. Today Heydrich is still buried there.
