My albums of 2023 ranged from jungle to drone to skewed folk. Thanks to Double O, Erika, Kali Malone feat. Stephen O'Malley & Lucy Railton, Rupert Clervaux & Dania, and Was Ist Das for brightening my year.

@j4@LibbyApp@CrossCountryUK Then I'm stumped, sorry. I still think it's the WiFi network trying to do a person-in-the-middle, but why it should fail to recognize you as signed in only for this a 🤷 from me.
New Claire M Singer out on Touch! It's called Saor, it's every bit as great as I'd hoped (having loved Solas back in 2016) while also feeling like it's doing something new. Fans of church-organ-led classical drone know what to do.

@BlankForms Rupert Clervaux & Dania's Acción y Destino (on @OOH_sounds) starts off with some bracingly jarring minimalism, but the rest of the record blends elements of drone and ambient, with a purity that feels like it is doing my soul good.

My last music update here was (by my recent standards) relatively bosh-heavy. Today, I have two pieces of deep listening for you, both also deeply rewarding.
Catherine Christer Hennix is (among many other things) a legend of 70s New York minimalism and a student of classical raga, and she distills a lifetime's experience into her 78-minute drone masterpiece Solo For Tamburium (on @BlankForms).

@purserhallard Finishing the thread on an absolute stunner: Rrose's Please Touch (on Eaux) is minimal techno and ambient with a Plastikmanly feel to it — but it's so much more than that. It's mind-alteringly hypnotic stuff and essential listening if that's your thing.

I figured I'd do a bit of a catch-up on recent musical tips. (I've been a bit ho-hum about posting on this site recently, because of all the stuff, but I figure that whether I burble about tunes a bit isn't actually going to make any difference...)
On the other hand, if you're more in the market for a bloody great slab of industrial techno, you could do worse than to check out Ricardo Laine's Asleep In Their Myst (on Pinkman).

David Double O (of the Rapture night at Corsica Studio) defines jungle as "dub with breaks", which is exactly what his album Firm Meditation does. It also does it very enjoyably, so a strong recommend for this.

Oh no, RIP Brian McBride. I can honestly say that Stars Of The Lid And Their Refinement Of The Decline played a bit part in transforming my musical tastes.
