Today marks the 78th anniversary of the Nakba (catastrophe), during which more than 750,000 Palestinians were expelled and over 400 villages were destroyed to establish the State of Israel.
my hot take is that "fashion is art" is a terrible theme that ironically reveals the artistic paucity of the fashion industry. given a challenge to make garments that argue fashion is its own artistic medium, but everyone just makes recreations of dresses from famous paintings.
It’s disgusting to hear, to watch and to understand that this is exactly how the world works across all mediums of art. The work somehow always outweighs the actions of the artist because what they do or create inspires you or someone like you. It’s NEVER about the victims or how they will have to continue living in a world that caters to rapists and the continued success of their work. Even when documented, put out for the whole world to see it’s still not about them but about villainizing these predators, casting them away into hiding, while the victims face the repercussions of not speaking up sooner or having no evidence. It’s disgusting to see two women platform this kind of behavior and reducing it to just cancel culture but at this point it’s to be expected.
