What is it about procrastination?

Procrastination—delaying what should be done now—is one of the biggest things holding you back.
Whether you're a university student, a youth corper, or a fresh graduate looking for a job or scholarships, or you want to learn a skill.
Procrastination can quietly block your progress if not managed.

In today’s fast-moving world, good opportunities don’t wait. Scholarships close fast. Job openings fill quickly. If you delay, someone else who acted faster gets ahead.

Procrastination has kept many smart people from reaching their potential—not because they aren't good enough, but because they didn’t act on time.

I’ve learned this lesson firsthand. Growing up, I made a rule for myself: if an opportunity comes my way and it doesn’t cost me money—just time and effort—I will apply.

I don’t wait to “feel ready.” I write the essays, send the emails, and submit the forms. And it has paid off. Just in the past few years, I got a job and multiple scholarships, not because I’m the best, but because I showed up early and consistently.

Let me share a real example. Three years ago, I saw a job poster for a research role in the United States and shared it with a friend. At the time, he was two months away from completing his PhD and had already interviewed for two positions in France and was sure of securing an offer in one of the organizations.

He said, “Guy, let me just send my application for this US job to test the waters.” A week later, he was shortlisted. He aced the interview, and the offer came—four times the pay he expected in France and at a much bigger organization. Today, he’s living and working in the U.S. If he had delayed that application, he would probably still be in France earning far less.

Opportunities reward speed and effort. If you keep putting things off, life will move on without you.

So stop waiting. Send that application. Learn that skill. Take that step. You may not feel ready, but readiness often comes after you start.

Start now. Your future self will thank you.

In this age and time, taking a job based on prestige and security is an illusion.

You should take a job based on:

1. How does it make me a better person.

2. How does it improve the quality of my life.

3. What do I learn on the job to be competitive for others' jobs in the short and medium time. Say after 1-3 or 3-5 years working there.

4. Availability of work tools such as office space, utility vehicle, etc.

5. Type of training available for employees and how frequent.

6. Etc.
