@goldstone_tony@medicaccountant Hi Tony - thanks for all of your work on this. I cant work out how to handle an increment though. Is the salary used for closing value calculated on the salary at the end of the year or is it pro-rated if for example it is half way through the tax year?

@goldstone_tony@Vish_Sharm@BMA_Consultants I agree, am just surprised the January date was given away thus eroding the offer for some, whilst improving it for others. Although the impact of the offer on AA tax especially for those at an incremental point in 24/25 could be huge! That remains a very unsolved problem.
@goldstone_tony@Vish_Sharm@BMA_Consultants The overall increase is only a benefit for the consultant group as a whole? On an individual basis - if you are in years 8+ you will get the same amount of money less 2/12 backpay with this offer. The extra pay achieved for 23/24 is therefore very little more than the 6% DDRB.
@goldstone_tony@Vish_Sharm@BMA_Consultants Wasn’t the initial consultant offer being backdated to 1 Jan ‘24? New offer 1 March….represents a not insignificant amount less in 23/24 per consultant?
1/ NEW & IMPORTANT: So we need to talk about NHS pay. NEW shocking [post DDRB] data just in 4/1/24 👇 (SPOILER: Not "fair & reasonable")
We need to fix pay/retention to fix waiting lists- increasingly clear next GE will won/lost on NHS
Please read whole 🧵 & share widely/RT
1/ VITAL🧵 So people have had a couple of days to digest the DDRBs "independent" reports & their imposition by governemnt.
TLDR;they represent further MASSIVE pay cuts.
Lets start with some history and look at what happened BEFORE the current high inflation
Pls read all/RT
Sorry @LawrenceDunhill@HSJEditor this is complete and utter nonsense
All staff groups are striking because of the destruction in their pay (and also their pension related to that pay)
A one off non consolidated “bribe” does nothing for #FullPayRestoration
RT if you agree
1/ The @DHSCgovuk pay recomendations to DDRB are beyond disgraceful. With inflation already at 5.5% and rising rapidly (likely to exceed 6-7%) a 2% “pay award” would represent the *biggest pay cut* to doctors Ive seen in 2 decades of doctoring
RT if you have had enough …
@goldstone_tony If you haven’t pre-registered and paid for your car to be exempt, you definitely have to pay it. You can take advantage of cheap parking in Westminster though I think
Thank you excellent article in @thetimes
“Supply of vaccine is scarce. But that cant be an excuse for failing to put those putting themselves in harms way with the maximal possible protection”
Healthcare workers MUST get second dose as @WHO to protection patients. Act now!

NEW: a common response to reports of hospitals struggling this winter is "it’s no different to a bad flu season!"
I’ve tracked down historical data on flu ICU admissions, including winter 2017-18, a record high.
Here’s how England’s Covid winter compares to a bad flu season 📹
