Except in '82, Germany and Austria stopped playing once they got the scoreline they needed. It was an obvious non-aggression pact that led FIFA to literally change the World Cup rules.
This was a 3–3 thriller with six fucking goals, lead changes, and a 96th-minute equalizer.
I hope that Austria and Algeria get kicked in the next round of this horrible game, Algeria for having a goalkeeper worse than his fucking mother and Austria for benefiting from the traps and corruption of FIFA and Trump to harm Iran.
Je comprends pas la théorie du match arrangé entre l'Algérie et l'Autriche, première fois que je vois un match "arrangé" qui se termine à 3-3, avec une équipe éliminée à moins d'une minute de la fin, qui égalise à la dernière seconde..
I don't believe there was any kind of rigging by referees or VAR against Iran but it's undeniable that the team was treated abominably by the US, who are wholly unfit to host such an event, and that that treatment very likely negatively impacted their performance. It was not fair
@cap_syed There were 2 substitutions in stoppage time, makes approx. an extra minute, plus a goal scored with extended celebrations. Furthermore you usually allow an attack to be played to an end.
In Qatar, Iran scored from a penalty in +13' of a 10' stoppage time.
@serveandrive You know both team couldn’t lose or they’ll fly home right? It’s not that surprising both teams didn’t invest everything in a meaningless win. If you watched the game you wouldn’t claim it was scripted
Austria were on the brink of elimination after Riyad Mahrez had given Algeria the lead in the 93rd minute…
Then Saša Kalajdžić scored a 96th-minute equalizer to send Austria through to the Round of 32 🇦🇹
