I encourage anyone who revisits Get Out (or watches it for the first time in 2024 like me) to consider not just the greater societal commentary the movie offers but also Chris's portrayal of how frustrating it is to navigate those challenges all by yourself.
I finally watched Jordan Peele's "Get Out" this last weekend. What a bizarre experience to watch such a popular, widely discussed contemporary movie years after it had already cemented itself as a cultural object. #Jordanpeele
In Get Out, Chris knows that something isn't quite right from very early on. But between the seemingly sincere apologies from his girlfriend and the hyperbolic interpretations of his friend, he is overwhelmed with conflicting thoughts and is left kind of paralyzed.
Dune: Part Two was immediately one of my top movie theater experiences ever, up there with Across the Spider-Verse and Everything Everywhere All at Once. The action, spectacle, and intensity make it such a good theater movie.
Watched the Oscars for the first time this year. A little sad to see that Killers of the Flower Moon didn't win anything as it's a great movie, but it's hard to argue against Oppenheimer winning awards because it really does deserve it.
A shame that Wes Anderson's Asteroid City isn't getting a single Oscar nomination. One of the best movies to come out in 2023. I think it's up there with Oppenheimer and Across the Spider-Verse.
