Following the implementation of the Oxygen as a Service (02aaS) project, through which facilities access reliable oxygen through service providers responsible for installation, maintenance, monitoring, clinical training and a recent private sector mapping of the oxygen ecosystem, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with @FuturesCoLab, @UNICEFUganda, @UKinUganda and other key stakeholders, have convened a joint dissemination.
The discussion is reviewing the status of oxygen access in Uganda, with a focus on supply and distribution across the public and private sectors, progress against national targets, key bottlenecks, and emerging recommendations.
Demand for medical oxygen remains consistently high, driven by conditions such as pneumonia, malaria, birth asphyxia, and the need for surgical and emergency care.
While COVID-19 exposed pre-existing system vulnerabilities, it also highlighted the critical role of coordinated public-private partnerships in strengthening oxygen delivery systems.

Today is #WorldMalariaDay!
As part of the Malaria elimination program, Uganda has rolled out the largest Malaria vaccination program to date. The vaccine targets all children aged 6 to 18 months protecting them from the complications of Malaria and death.
The vaccine should be used together with other Malaria prevention measures such as sleeping under a mosquito net every night, seek treatment for every fever within 24 hours, maintain clean homes, drain all stagnant water in and around your homes. Malaria is preventable.
