The Death of Albert Ojwang' and Arrest of Kelvin Mohinde

The tragic death of Albert Ojwang’ which occurred in police custody leaves us shaken, yet again, at what has become a constant wave of State-sponsored violence against young Kenyans.

Media reports indicate that he was arrested over social media posts of a story on alleged grand corruption linked to Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eliud Langat.

Albert was held at Central Police Station, Nairobi, without being formally booked which is a violation of due process that raises serious legal and moral questions.

The explanation offered by the Director of Corporate Communication for the National Police Service claiming he injured himself in the police cells, by hitting his head on the wall, is wanting and demands immediate and independent investigation.

Albert's death is a stark and painful reminder of the dangers faced by Kenyans who express dissent and the deadly consequences when state power goes unchecked.

Equally concerning is the continued detention of Kelvin Moinde, who was also arrested over online posts linked to the same news piece.

The idea that one can be arrested merely for expressing an opinion online is deeply troubling. It undermines not only our Constitution, but the very fabric of a free and open society.

Digital rights must be protected as human rights to ensure the freedom of expression and access to information.

That this regime can kill, kidnap and torture anyone over the use of digital spaces speaks to the government’s loss of legitimacy.

These are not isolated incidents. They are a pattern of repression and the use of fear to suppress constitutional provisions.

None of this State-sponsored repression will make Kenyans cower in fear.

Our goal to reset the nation to the rule of law; to rebuild our institutions; and to restore humanity is undying.

We were called by the police to assist with this case as well wishers had brought this woman after she started screaming.

It's mum says she had gone out to buy stuff for her mtumba business when she came home and the baby wouldnt stop crying. So she decided to change the nappy when she saw so much blood and the father told her he burned her with hot water while trying to clean her up. She tried to clean her up, but the child kept screaming and when she put her down she couldnt walk

She couldn't imagine what this man could have done but it appears he has raping all their children. Including the 9 year old boy who was now trying to do to his brother what was being done to him

We have taken the mum and her children to the hospital. That's Ruth the Operations Manager- Usikimye with them.

Albert Ojwang's brutal murder in the hands of the police officers has revived the painful wounds of the tens of GenZs who continue to be killed by security agencies by the Ruto Administration.

In the strongest terms possible, I condemn this cowardly act by the killers and call for speedy investigations. Culprits must be brought to book.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Eliud Lagat is the complainant, and the one who ordered the arrest in the alleged 'crime' that Ojwang committed was making a fair comment on his social media account on Mr. Eliud Lagat. He must take full responsibility for this murder.

This is the same Eliud Lagat in charge of Police Cells. He is the same Eliud Lagat who ordered Police to withdraw from a church service in Mwiki on Sunday, 6th April 2025, to allow for goons to attack me and congregants.

Suspending junior officers at Central Police station is hoodwinking Kenyans. For any meaningful investigations to be done, Mr. Eliud Lagat must be suspended immediately.

DIG Eliud Lagat is personally operating Kamukunji Police Station and Central Police Station without the knowledge of police IG.

People are complaining that those two stations have become the new torture chambers.

That is the reason Albert had to be moved from Homa Bay to Central Police Station in Nairobi.

To the family of Albert and the people of HomaBay County, friends of Albert and the people of Kenya, especially the GenZs, I stand with you in seeking justice for Albert, whose murder has fingers pointed to this cowardly regime.

What have the young people, small children done to deserve these macabre killings? What have the parents done to lose their children in the hands of this dictatorial regime?

There has been no worse mutilation of our freedoms in Kenya than under this regime.

It is now clear that the so-called Broad-based Government is Blood-Based Government whose engine is powered by the blood of GenZs. It was formed after the blood of young people was splashed in the streets, and it continues to survive on this. The beneficiaries are quiet as the young people get brutally murdered.

Mr. President, leave our children alone. You swore by the Holy Bible to protect the lives and property of Kenyans.

William and your cabal, how many gallons of blood do you want to be okay? Albert has never met a wall before getting into central police?

Albert Ochieng Was Beaten to Death” Mortuary Sources Dispute Police Narrative

Eyewitnesses who viewed the body of Albert Ochieng at the mortuary are painting a disturbing picture quite literally. According to multiple sources, his body bears clear signs of having been brutally beaten, with visible injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. There are also defensive wounds, strongly suggesting he fought back before dying.

What’s more concerning is that the condition of his body contradicts the official version of events given by both the OCPD and OCS earlier that morning. Police had claimed that Albert injured himself while in custody and later died while being rushed to Mbagathi Hospital.
