My interview from TED with @kcoleman and @audreyt just went live!
Tons of gold in here:
-why we stuck with crazy principles like not having an override button
-how AI and humans collaborate to write better/more notes than either on their own
-how much impact community notes are making
-why our algorithm is smarter than regular upvoting/downvoting
-new ideas for finding common ground on social media

Feel like the world is inescapably polarized? Think again!
Talked frontiers of @CommunityNotes and finding Common Ground on social media with @audreyt and @jaybaxter at TED2026. There’s more agreement than it may seem, and it’s a reason for optimism!

New paper. In the last ~4 months we've roughly doubled the number of @CommunityNotes showing on X, and are accelerating how fast they're displayed. That means more of the effect just published in @NatureComms
We often hear @CommunityNotes contributors say how much they value seeing proposed notes before they start showing for everyone. Now, bringing some of that magic to everyone ✨
I’ve been loving playing with this.
If you are a Community Notes contributor with >=5 writing impact, you get a chance to try it now too.
Try requesting a collaborative note on a post when you’re not sure whether it’s true. You get an answer back via a notification, whether the post is accurate or not. And if the answer doesn’t seem quite right, I find it satisfying to be able to suggest an improvement. Let us know what you think!
War in the age of AI is something else, but I've found @CommunityNotes and @grok incredibly helpful in debunking fake news/videos. Tag Grok for clarification if you're unsure about a post or tap the 3 dots at the top right corner to request a Community Note to correct it.
Today we are revising our Creator Revenue Sharing policies to maintain authenticity of content on Timeline and prevent manipulation of the program.
During times of war, it is critical that people have access to authentic information on the ground. With today’s AI technologies, it is trivial to create content that can mislead people.
Starting now, users who post AI-generated videos of an armed conflict—without adding a disclosure that it was made with AI—will be suspended from Creator Revenue Sharing for 90 days. Subsequent violations will result in a permanent suspension from the program.
This will be flagged to us by any post with a Community Note or if the content contains meta data (or other signals) from generative AI tools.
We will continue to refine our policies and product to ensure X can be trusted during these critical moments.
