✨ New small feature, big convenience for some users.
dotDB now supports Custom Extension Priority Order in your Search Preferences.
By default, extensions in search results are ordered based on the number of registered domains in each extension. But we know some users may prefer to see specific extensions first — such as .ai, .io, .si, or any other extensions important to their workflow.
You can now set your own preferred extension order, and dotDB will show those extensions first in your search results.
Find it under:
Account → Search Preference → Extension Priority Order
A small update, but hopefully a useful one.
We’re seeing a strong surge in .app registrations lately 📈
According to dotDB data, .app surpassed 1 million domains earlier this year, and growth has accelerated significantly since then.
The trend is clearly becoming much steeper.
Explore the data: https://t.co/nD6v6nrjhZ
Do you own any .app domains?
Feel free to share 👇
A surprising trend popped up in this week’s dotDB data: the extension with the biggest registration growth is .makeup💄
👉 https://t.co/E1m0rSFdGy
It jumped by +40,520 domains and topped our “Most Increased Extensions” list this week.
One possible reason? Dynadot and Spaceship are currently running very aggressive promos for .makeup (under $2 per registration). That kind of pricing can easily trigger a registration wave.
Did you register any .makeup domains lately? Drop a comment and share what you picked up 👇

Over the past week, we observed a surge in ChatGPT Atlas–related domain registrations. The exact match chatgptatlas now appears in 301+ domain extensions.
Interestingly, https://t.co/xMviS2RcUP was registered on Oct 20, 2025 — just one day before OpenAI officially announced its ChatGPT Atlas browser on Oct 21. Most of the other registrations occurred on the announcement day itself, and the majority were registered by OpenAI, likely for brand protection purposes.
All of these domains currently redirect to the official ChatGPT Atlas website — showing how seriously OpenAI takes brand protection. 🧠🌐

Mine’s https://t.co/QC7A5WvFWL with 418.
What’s yours?
Hi! For the search volume, we use Exact Match, but it also includes close variants (e.g., some typos, singular/plural forms, etc., may be grouped under the same term). So, in essence, it’s an Exact Match set with slight flexibility for very similar variations.
Regarding the Site Status accuracy you mentioned — we’ve been actively working on improving it. One of our upcoming projects is to significantly enhance detection accuracy. That said, getting it to be 100% precise is extremely challenging, as DNS and name servers are constantly changing. We can only push accuracy higher by increasing the frequency of our checks, gathering data from more sources, and applying indirect detection methods.
Our goal is to bring accuracy up to 90–95% or higher in the near future, so please stay tuned.
We're excited to announce the launch of the Keyword Insights Page, a powerful new feature that gives you a complete, data-rich view of any keyword's global footprint.
Take "Labubu" for example – a collectible plush toy brand created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung that has recently exploded in popularity worldwide. With Keyword Insights, you can instantly see that "Labubu" racks up an astounding 55.6 million monthly searches globally. Even more revealing: the United States leads with 13.6 million searches, followed by Poland and Brazil. Insights like this help you pinpoint exactly where a keyword's audience is strongest — and sometimes uncover unexpected markets.
The Search Volume Trends chart makes it clear how quickly Labubu's popularity surged. The blue line shows search volume skyrocketing, while the red line (Exact Match Domains, or EMDs) closely follows — proof that domain registrations often mirror real-world search trends. By comparing these two metrics over time, you can spot market momentum and react before competitors do.
Keyword Insights also lets you:
1. Break down search volume by country and language to understand regional demand.
2. Track trends against EMD growth to see how domain registrations respond to market shifts.
3. View a complete list of registered domain extensions containing your keyword.
4. Discover related high-search keywords for expansion opportunities.
5. Access precise definitions for every word in your keyword, so you know exactly what you're analyzing.
With these insights, you can identify where your domain keywords are most valuable, detect rising trends early, and uncover opportunities you might otherwise miss.
The Keyword Insights Page is now live for all dotDB paid users — start exploring and unlock the full potential of your keyword strategy today.
Monthly page-view quotas for the Keyword Insights Page vary by plan: Basic users can view the page up to 100 times per month, Pro users up to 300 times, and Expert (and above) users up to 1,000 times.

We've noticed that a whopping 99 domains related to Pope Leo XIV have been registered, with 35 of them being exact-match domains (EMDs), mostly right after the announcement of the new pope.
But here’s the kicker – PopeLeoXIV․com was snapped up much earlier, on April 21 according to the record in our database, nearly three weeks before the new pope's big reveal on May 8! It's currently up for auction on Sedo. It seems like the domain registrant might have just gone ahead and registered every possible pope name, and bingo – they hit PopeLeoXIV․com.
Every time there’s a global event like this, you can bet it shows up in the domain registrations first. It’s kind of fascinating how fast the domain world reacts to big news!
