So am I getting this right @NatureScot gamekeepers/estate owners can kill 100s of thousands of native animals each year and no requirement to keep/share any records of their killing spree? This is Scotland’s natural heritage OUR natural heritage not theirs to kill just because it was unfortunate enough to stray onto their grouse farming moor.

Gamekeepers do keep kill records to show to their employer to ensure there are enough grouse to shoot for fun but they don’t think the public have a right to see this information.

Of course they don’t as people would then realise the extent of the ecocide in Scotland.

From salmon farms pouring pesticides in the water, driven grouse shooting killing whatever they like legally or otherwise, dredging for scallops, shooting beavers because farmers want to farm right up to the river edge, Scotland just doesn’t care about its natural heritage. One of the reasons people voted for Labour was their promise to end the badger cull.

And yet here we are still fighting for the cull to end with DEFRA Minister @SteveReedMP confirming existing badger culling won't be stopped.

Disappointing to say the least.

⚖️ All defendants have been found guilty by unanimous verdicts in the trial of five @JustStop_Oil protesters at Southwark Crown Court this morning.

They were accused of conspiring to cause public nuisance through their protest actions on the M25 in November 2022. In remarks at the end of the trial, Judge Christopher Hehir made his personal views very clear, congratulating the jury, and describing climate concern as "single issue fanaticism". Earlier in the trial he had ordered the arrest of @DefendOurJuries supporters who sat quietly outside the court with banners proclaiming "Jurors deserve to hear the whole truth".

Today he backed down and dropped that charge. Sentencing for the five will take place next Thursday 18th, and the judge has indicated he will be delivering 'very long' prison sentences.

The trial was observed last week by Michel Forst, a UN Special Rapporteur deeply concerned over the persecution of climate protesters, pictured standing with the five defendants outside the court (courtesy of JSO).

The judge ruled out ANY defence in the trial, and repeatedly arrested defendants within the court for attempting to speak to the jury about the overwhelming evidence that humanity is facing an extreme existential crisis, and that civil disobedience is essential to achieve the changes required to mitigate.

⚠️ Roger Hallam, Daniel Shaw, Louise Lancaster, Lucia Whittaker De Abreu, Cressida Gethin are remanded in custody.
