Someone I know recently was having heart attack symptoms & called 999. The ambulance waiting time was 2-3 hrs; they got a taxi instead, arrived at A&E & collapsed 5 mins later. If they had waited for the ambulance, they would be dead.

A record number of ambulances are being delayed while handing over patients at hospitals in England.

More than 40% were forced to wait at least half an hour in the week to 1st January - compared to 23% at the same point last year.
