Canada and the United States both celebrated their birthdays this week.
Warren Kinsella, a columnist with the Toronto Sun, argues that America is failing under President Trump.
You can agree or disagree with that view, but the economic data tells a more nuanced story. It's always worth looking at the numbers before embracing the narrative.
To the Americans:
I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States.
And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness:
You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence.
This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns.
Success is equated with exploitation.
Ambition is looked upon with contempt.
This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom.
But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated.
This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet.
And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America:
Thank God for the United States.
Thank God for the wisdom of its founders.
Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man.
Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners.
Long may your admirable country dominate the world.
Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states.
May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning.
Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill.
Thank God for the USA.
Happy 250th.

🚨 THE LIBERAL REPORT CARD IS IN 🚨
After years of treating deficits like free money, investment like an enemy and taxpayers like an ATM, the Liberals have driven Canada into recession.
The country isn’t failing. Liberal economics is.
🚨PROPERTY RIGHTS WIN🚨
The Supreme Court of Canada has refused to hear a major Aboriginal title appeal, upholding a New Brunswick ruling that title cannot be declared over private fee-simple land.
Now Cowichan could be next.
This fight isn't over, but just got a lot easier.
Steven Guilbeault is leaving federal politics, and not a moment too soon.
He may go down as one of the ministers who most aggressively weaponized science, funding questionable research groups like the Canadian Climate Institute and other pet projects to reinforce a single “climate crisis” narrative.
Anyone claiming Guilbeault truly believed in science is fooling themselves. He treated science like a buffet — picking only what supported his agenda. That’s not science.
He even misquoted me in the House of Commons, attributing claims to me that I have never said or published. That alone tells you everything you need to know about how evidence and dissent were handled under his watch.
Good riddance.
Flibe Energy is pleased to have been selected by the DOE for advanced negotiations as part of the Surplus Plutonium Utilization Project.

Let's support our wineries.
Wine Growers Canada's newest report shows that there's more Ottawa can do to make our wineries more competitive and grow our local economy.
We should pass @DanAlbas' bill to allow direct-to-consumer shipping through Canada Post across provincial boundaries. We should also end the annual automatic excise tax hike to strengthen our local wineries.
It's not good enough for the Liberal government to say "we've done our part"; there's still more we can do.
Stating that women do not have penises is conservative.
Stating that the scientific method is superior to ancestral tribal dances for seeking truth is conservative.
Supporting a rational immigration policy is conservative.
Defending freedom of speech & freedom of inquiry is conservative.
Stating that cultures that don't kill gays are superior to those that do is conservative.
Basically, rationality is conservatism. Parasitic irrationality is progressivism.
"Canadians have chosen pain over prosperity. Most don’t realize it yet, but that’s the path they’ve taken. Turning our backs on the most powerful economy in history is beyond comprehension—and it will make things even more challenging for our farmers and Canada’s agri-food sector."

Tesla FSD 14.2.2.5
On the way home yesterday, a kid on his bike who was distracted by his cellphone, lost control and swerved in front of my vehicle. As you’ll see, FSD spotted him early, was cautious upon seeing him, and came to a complete stop, preventing every parent’s nightmare.
I really hope he learned a lesson.
Oxford University researchers have discovered the densest element yet known to science...
The new element, Governmentium (symbol=Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called pillocks.
Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert.
However, it can be detected because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.
A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.
Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2 to 6 years.
It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganisation in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.
In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganisation will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.
This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration.
This hypothetical quantity is referred to as a critical morass.
When catalysed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium (symbol=Ad), an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium, since it has half as many pillocks but twice as many morons.
@KatKanada_TM I’m confused and do support free speech, but what does it mean to support a listed terrorist organization? Were there police taking pictures to build cases?
