@Drfattyliver@IanARowe Age is a strong predictor of waiting list mortality so to maximise population survival older patients with same disease severity are prioritised. This was an anticipated outcome of the scheme. Post LT survival whether to 5 or 10 years doesn’t compensate for that. We’ve tried.
@AutoImmuneLiver @Drfattyliver@IanARowe Yes easy to blame system when fundamental issue is discrepancy between supply and demand. Solution is increased utilisation marginal dbds and dcds supported by nrp and perfusion technology hand in hand with LDLT.
@aelsharkawy75@IanARowe@Drfattyliver@EASLedu Scheme introduced in 2018 and several years of data on impact (covid disrupted https://t.co/wTM0CRjCm3) produced for independent national liver offering scheme (NLOS) monitoring committee chaired by @IanARowe reviewing data 3 monthly now 6 monthly. NLOS 2.0 on way.
@aelsharkawy75@IanARowe@Drfattyliver@EASLedu Still minimal listing criteria for CLD based on UKELD but agreement that we should explore moving to M1 of TBS (predicted survival without LT) in time to align with TBS offering.
@aelsharkawy75@IanARowe@Drfattyliver@EASLedu In UK we uniquely offer dbds nationally on transplant benefit score (TBS); maximising the difference in survival at 5 years between anticipated survival with LT with that organ v. survival without LT so that utility is considered in addition to need. 21 recipient 7 donor factors
Last game of the year for the newly assembled 20s squad. Impressive 11 wins in 13 games.

New data on fibrosis biomarkers in AILD. Interesting mechanistic insights and highlight the potential as intermediary endpoints for clinical trials. https://t.co/FqmzAyuhG5
PSC a challenge to the clinician but an even greater challenge to the patient/their family. So much can be done to help people feel better, understood and supported even in the absence of effective therapies. Let’s crack this @PSCSupportUK @PSCPartners
Hats off to @NHSBT_Stats@NHSBT@Johnforsythe100@dougton today talking to liver patient orgs (#LPTC): safely maintaining urgent liver transplant services during the COVID19 pandemic and bringing transplant numbers back to pre-COVID19 levels - bringing hope in uncertain times 🙏
Delighted our super colleague @pbendoscopist has been appointed consultant in the RFH/UCL liver service. Already made a massive contribution to the joint RFH/UCLH PB medicine team. We and our patients are very fortunate!! @GWebster_endo@RajivJalan1@DavidPatch1 @PereiraGroup
